I think that this thread of suggestions is fine.
At the moment the feature list is locked so that we can actually get it done. Mainly Audiofreak can get it done that is... 😉
In the past we have been loathe to make changes -even good ones because they would require custom coding to implement in the old version. This custom code would then be a mess in the new version- in fact the custom code IS a huge problem in making the change.
BUT once things calm down a bit and things are working we will certainly run through this thread and look for good ideas. Of course some of them will just magically appear as they are already part of the new version.. After all many issues we have with this version are issues any forum has with it , and have been addressed

Holy carp! They turn loose the infamous HAMMERHEAD SHARK for heavy duty moderating! 😱
Many thanks to all the Administrators and Moderators for all of your hard work over these last few years.
I look forward to the new site.

Funny you should mention that. The hat (not yet complete) was part of a Hallowe'en costume. I wore a tux, carried a three piece cue and was a hammerhead shark.
Cheers.
Suggestion to improve forum search
Hello,
I wish the forum search is improved. Currently it finds the threads where a given word or phrase is included but it does not tell which page or post the hit is located. Really useless when there is 100+ pages in the thread...
Hope some improvement will be implemented.
Otherwise no complaints. Great forum 😀

Elias,
2 ways you can already improve that.
1. Search by posts instead of threads...
OR
2. Search by threads and then once u are in the thread, use the search this thread feature at the bottom right hand corner of the page.

Forum upgrade
Oh thank you thank you thank you for upgrading the search here.
I do not use this site nearly as much as I would like because it is so cumbersome.
</rant>
You get a big kiss from me. (blown of course).

giggles
Luv,
Veronica

Hi Veronica,
You mean you don't like the exchange of information between people? Posting is an excellent way of finding additional information. Don't you have some experiences or information you could share with the rest of us?
Don't wait for the upgrade, start interacting now!
-Chris 😉

Aww Chris, it is not only that I do not like people (machines are our friends, I can control them, and they do what I want).
But it is that I am so very busy.
I work a full time job doing AV systems at Disney. (The Happiest Place on Earth and one with some great AV systems).
Have my own gear to maintain.
Plus I cook, clean and do all of the shopping.
Add being a grandmother of 5.
See? So please dont judge until you walk a mile in my pumps.
ANYTHING that we can do to save time is greatly appreciated.
ESPECIALLY on a site with so many posts in so many threads.

We're gonna implement Google for part of our local searching. Because it works.... And our current searching is rather lame we admit..
You know Mark, I used to think that. But now it seems better. Did I just learn to use it better?
On the subject of browsers, as it stands this forum works great on all sorts of browsers and OS. Tricky to do, that is. Best wishes and crossed finger for such great cross-platform stabilty on the new version.
Browsers I've used with succes to read and post to diyAudio.
Opera
Opera Mobile
I.E. mobile (the worst)
Firefox & Mozzila
Safari
I.E. for windoze
I.E. for Mac OS 9
Netscape for windoze
Netscape for OS 9!
iCab
and some Linux stuff.
(maybe I should dig up a copy of Mozaic, just for fun)
Not bad!
