I was just flicking through this thread and came across the chat about field coil drivers, and their expense.
A friend of mine collects early radios, and I found it interesting that it was normal then to have what would be very cheap and basic field coil drivers. He also has a pair of Voigt field coil drivers from the 1930s, which are very similar to modern Lowther drivers. I am told that PM in the Lowther naming of drivers stands for Permanent Magnet. I wonder if when they were introduced that was notable.

Look for this “ mono surround”

The Jordan Watts Modular Loudspeaker

Not really mono surround. The J-W module used a spider substitute in the for of wires. The later JX150 (and i assume the JX125) had a different kind of rear suspension as well.

AFAIK the first monoSuspension Jordan was the J6T. Jordan never sold this (about the time EAD sucked up Jordan), and it became the Alpair 5. It did use ferrofluid to help cetre the VC. That went out the wondow when the Euro rules tightened on ferro fluid getting into the air, and it was. aLooonng time before the true monoSuspension A5.2 came out. At the time, Mark told me he would be doing larger ones if it worked out. It did spectacularly, and we have the A7ms/11ms.
