Where to solder/check?

The 49MHz Rhea does look shinier in comparison. This is tiny work will it hurt if I I get a some what big glob on it or should I just reheat with tip?
Touched up Rhea 45MHz clock, flashed up to Bot-5 and YES!!!
44k1 files play!!!😀
Greatfull thank yous to all who suffered through my missteps and
helped me out. 😉

Ichiban - It would be nice if you might post on the Botic thread - just to close the loop so people know that you have your issue resolved. 🙂
I hope you are enjoying the music!
Cheers!

Will do.
Yes, enjoying the music, as long as MPD co-operates. Never a dull moment! 😉
On the sound quality, I find it removes a veil I didn't know was there when using Linux/Mint USB out to a USB2I2S converter onto the BII. In other words I like.

OK, I have installed Squeezelite but I'm not sure I understand how to play DSD (dsf/dff) files. My LMS 7.7.5 just does not see those files. I'll be grateful if someone will enlighten me or link me to where I can read about the subject.
to play DSD/DSF files you need v7.9 of LMS. See 7.9 LMS changelog:OK, I have installed Squeezelite but I'm not sure I understand how to play DSD (dsf/dff) files. Some Software Beta Downloads - Version 7.9
"LMS 7.9 can be setup to play DFF and DSF files as DoP FLAC" - is it the only way to play DSD files? Only as DoP FLAC?

Yes, DSD can be output as DoP or decimated/converted to native PCM.
(squeezelite doesn't currently support native DSD output even if using a USB interface which does support native DSD via ALSA.)
I see. So only MPD can play native DSD files in this configuration BBB/Botic/Cape?
Yes, I believe that is correct. You will need to use MPD for native DSD support.
Another resource busy problem
I've been trying to get music for a week or so now, trying to get past the dreaded:
play FAIL sox: `default' Device or resource busy: Operation not permitted
From what i can tell from the forum, this is usually caused by a soldering issue. This wouldn't surprise me, but I have re-heated/re-flowed every joint twice now, including the two clock modules.
Is there any way to narrow down where the issue is? All 4 leds on Hermes are on. On the B3, the mute is on and lock is off. Does this provide any clues?
The B3 was playing I2S from RPI with Volumio before I hooked it up to this rig.
Thanks,
Doug

Where is IC3 at the Cronus?
Don't know what IC3 is or where IC3 is. I don't see how it could have fell off.
Thanks for catching this.
Brian, can you confirm that IC3 is needed. I see it in some other pics but wanted to make sure in case there was some revision to the Chronos that makes it unnecessary.
Zoinks! Early production headaches... 🙂
Yes, IC3 is required and should be there. I can send you the missing chip or add it for you.
Sorry about that.

No worries, Brian.
Please send it to me and I will solder it. I sent you an email too with my address.
Thanks,
Doug

Got the IC3 chip yesterday (thanks Brian) and soldered it on last nite.
Now the B3 lock led is on but I'm not getting any music still (play command looks like it is working, no more resource busy issues).
When I use Squeezelite it looks like it is playing too, but with ympd the song time doesn't increment (like it is not playing)
It has been a while since I built the B3. Does the lock mean that the bbb/hermes/chronos/botic are working and I need to troubleshoot the B3 or legato? or could there still be something in the bbb/hermes/chronos/botic?
Just wondering where to start looking.
If anyone has any tips, please pass them on. I'll keep pluggig away.
Thanks,
Doug
