I have no idea what chrisb and Scottmoose are on about, but anyway - totally unsuitable enclosure damping foam underlay has now been removed. Listening test ongoing now. Early thoughts are that I have a crisper treble and smoother lower-midrange. Might be all psychological of course, but I reckon they sound 'better'.

I've just heard from Canterbury. I'm out again. 😀
Teeth, back, work, or maybe god herself? i'm sure Canterbury has some local context i do not know

It's where the archbishop lives, head of the Church Of England. An oblique (though incorrect, since the CofE doesn't have such things) reference to being excommunicated.

Pensils require a different scheme. Reflex enclosures are lined, the Pensil is stuffed (with well teased poly fluff type stuff)

gsswallow,
You can find a link to a suitable material for "lining" bass reflex cabs in post 4 of this link from another forum:

^ I ordered that for my 10.3 reflexes today. Envirolay 54oz. My cabs are way too bright with the stuff I'm using to line them now.
Does damping need to go on the inside of the front baffle?

Could someone please advise me on the above. I've just ripped all the polyester wadding out the cabs and want to do this tomorrow when the underlay stuff comes. [emoji4]
the distance from port centre to base of cabinet seems to be missing from the drawing, does anyone know it?
Thanks Dave, I asked because the equivalent br box for the alpair 12p did have this dimension fixed (its not on the drawing but i remember it being stated in a thread) I remembered this because it was the same distance as the driver centre from the top of the cabinet, would this be coincidence, aesthetic or functional?
Scott does a lot of ML-TLs where vent placement is important… so likely a side effect of that, if he specifies then it is likely where he put the vent.

Thanks chaps, that's very helpful. I was planning on a fonken style brace (holey, vertical, offset from centre and bracing driver also) but have now realised that the long port would be in the way. The mfonken has a horizontal brace behind the driver, would this be the second best option here?
I am building these to try them out before going forward with some Pensils for my A10PeN. A quick question, i have some square terminal cups i plan to install. They are not lined with foam to around the edge. Is it necessary to have this does the approx 1cm wide, flat plastic surface create enough of a seal?
I'd use some PSA backed closed cell weatherstripping foam tape, or equivalent myself. Latex / silicone is very messy and can be a bitch to remove if necessary.
Hey Chris, thanks for the advice, i've got a strip of foam tape for window sealing. It compresses to approx. 1mm. I guess that should work OK?
