Babelfish F8

Nobody in Barcelona

yeah, same as no Froggy is speaking as guys and gals in Allo, Allo

remember those funny years where you had a story in every European country that Life of Brian is banned in neighboring country

I mean, c'mon, give artists some slack ........ whatever they're doing, it's nothing against widely spread crime of synchronized movies and series (cartoons for kids excluded from crime.... that is Art)

endless examples ..... imagine Jeremy Brett opening mouth while some German chap's voice coming out, Orson Wells sync. to Hungarian or Serbian, Marisa Paredes sync. to any other voice etc. ....... voice is a Channel, crime to kill original one

Speaking of the F8...

Again, what makes it an alluring proposition? There are so many amps floating around. I see it as a low power SE device. I guess it's the use of the SemiSouth R100 SiC in the original FW F8. Is that it? But these are no longer available, right?

Are we at the point where the amps are being designed around the sound of the parts not necessarily the architecture of the design, that is, are we looking at variations of similar designs to maximize the performance of individual components?

So... how does your Babelfish F8 compare with the FW F8? I mean, what do the F8 amps bring to the equation that we should jump on them.... Even Nelson seems to be more interested on the SIT amps lately in his FW work. And the SIT sound fantastic.

I'm almost at the point where I'm looking at getting a used FW amp because the parts are unobtainable otherwise.

What is its appeal

sound, what else?

Papa's fun to materialize idea (remember, Conceptualist, no bigger dope than attempting and achieving)
and, why not, money is good, I suppose our clever friends from East are digging it enough........same as they were clever to recognize M2 as Mana from Heaven

and why that W figures ....... it's SE OS, to start with

Even Nelson seems

don't forget one substantial fact ........ Pa made drekload of different amps which all sounds same good, many intended for same sorta easy loads, and many intended to drive a nail or two........ but! that's much better than some are doing - selling drekload of different amps, all sounding same bad and actually being same drek inside, with different labels

:devilr:

Seems to me, after reading back through the thread, that this F8 is based on unobtainable parts? So, if I wanted one, I'd have to buy a used one.

Or, more likely, kickback and see what happens with the Tonkin SIT designs... I got some of them and I like they way they sound. A lot. The Sissy is a very good sounding amp!

Decisions... and I will never complain about the weight of my speakers.... 300 lbs... yikes.

BTW. real men smoke 6x60 cigars, or bigger, try 7x70.... that picture of yours.? That's one tiny cigar.

Che cosa è?

Have fun...

I built mine with IRFP150's. It sounds great, I am liking it a bit more than my XA252 these days, but it depends on my mood lol. It wouldnt make sense for someone who already has a Sissysit. I would love to build something with Thf51s but they are 400(cdn). I can build an F8 with top of the line Vishay IRFP's for 24(cdn)

I completely agree with Flocchini with the sound stage and imaging of this amp. It is my favorite 25w first watt so far, but I have only built the M2, F6, and Aleph J.

pras1170 is selling NOS SJEP120R063 for $100 each. Same as 100 version. I've already bought two and about to buy another two. You can find them at vendors bazaar.
