I went in and purchased one of the 10" kevlar/paper yellow cone drivers today.

They're basically a direct rip off the dynaudio 30w100, they even slot into the same screw holes.

They're still wearing it in but i'll do a comparison to an original 30w100 as soon as they're worn in.

Another thing you guys might want to be aware of is that the 10" kevlar paper cone woofers (the dynaudio copies) are mispriced on their website.

When I went into jaycar, the 10" woofers are priced at $150aud in their system, they had to ring the manager to be able to sell them to me at the $120aud price advertised on the website.

If anyone is planning on buying the 10" then it might be a good idea to do so before they update their price on the website.

I've compiled a list of Jaycar driver cat numbers and the HiVi models they appear to correspond to(based on shared specs and visual likeness):

Jaycar 25mm CT2009 Dome Tweeter is the Hi-Vi K1 Tweeter:

Jaycar 4" CW2151 High-End Woofer/Midrange Driver is the Hi-Vi B4N:

Jaycar 8" CW2156 High-End Woofer is probably(slight variations in specs) the Hi-Vi D8G:

I'm no expert on drivers, but looking over the frequency response I see large abrupt humps in the low khz range for most of these. Does this suggest serious problems? Are any of them reasonable drivers? If necessary would some sort of filtering be able to whip them into shape?

If anyone has identified other drivers from Jaycar, or has further specs, please add the info here.

Andy what specs do you have? I'd especially like more detailed info on the new "Response" branded paper cones.

Prices are still a little high, are Jaycar still doing discounts for 10 units or more, perhaps a group buy of interested members in each capital ciy??
just an idea,
EDIT I am only interested in bass at this time and more interested in sealed boxes so at thic pricepoint it's not for me

They still do about a 20% discount for 10 or more.

I use the 10" versions and theyre great for bass but seem to have nasty cone resonances above ~150hz. I've tried them in a sealed and ported 75liter box and they definitely sound much better in a ported box.

The only bad thing ive got to say about these drive units is the sloppy gluing around the surround/former. It looks/feels like a thick dose of hot glue from a glue gun which has me worried if the voice coil temps may cause the glue to come loose.

Ive been running mine for about 3 weeks now upto 12 hours straight on some days nearing max excursion and it has yet to fail though.
