Okay, we think the opposit, and you don't know better layout is an important part of a DAC and this is mostly what matters from the 2 layers days to go beyond today beyond monney margin of cheap product mass market brands. Further more I am rigth in the topic as we talk of cheap and the fact that is a DIY forum from where all the cheap chi-Fi from ALi shematic are sourced from but made w/o care.... You eventually live perfectly well with that, so no advices to me please 😉 . I just ask if some interest for something cheap but well made as I made 5 prototypes. AND it is DIY... and I see people avoiding diy to spend in poor Ali bad made DACS for most of them. Never said it is the best but anyway sounds very good not only for I and the frontend is made by anothers' with care and diy spirit as well! So yeah I propose my pcb and BOM as an honest alternative.

So if your contribution is just about promoting cheap chineese DACS brands and sort them out by SINAD to tell here a 100 chifi sounds better than expensive DACs, you eventually is in the wrong place and not in position to tell me what I should do! There are anothers forums to rank off the shelfs cheap chifi 2 layers with high speed dac chips !

🙂 For the last time, I believe SINAD tells nothing about if it sounds excellent for me. But everything better then 100db is a good start.
Every design is a compromise in some way. Money spend tells nothing if I should like It.
But spending 5 times 100euro gives me a better change to find a excellent dac then 1 time 500euro.
I can not build a dac for 100euro even 500euro as I like the akliam pd6.

What sense does it make to buy no name stuff from Ali when the more established Chinese brands offer quite OK and nicely encased products for the same price or less? Products tested at ASR even and sometimes with some form of support if one is lucky. I did not keep track but the prices of Ali are going up it seems. The price gap that made one buy without thinking has become a little thin.

Like I said toys and yes it is on the verge of not buying as prices are going up, but at around $250 Australian I think it might be worth a play . I might just get fully balanced blacker than blacks with veils lifted . It also has a lot of buzz words that I like as in fully "discrete" and "FPGA"😳

All good. What I wonder is what happens when dust/debri/moist find their way on those discrete resistors. There was once a good reason these were molded in an IC.

Sound is a subjective experience, but with the latest Topping products in that price category, it is expected to be very good for most of us.

That one does look impressive for the asking price, which is around AU$500. The jitter plot is very nice... in fact, I don't believe I've seen a better-performing DAC overall, judged solely by measurements.
Funny that they call the new device DX5 II while it has no resemblance whatsoever with its predecessor DX5 😉
ES9039Q2M is OK. I have 2 products with it and heard a few others that have it. Just don’t expect the warm sonical/colored character of old DACs. It seems as neutral as can be.

I've got a crisp sounding DAC, crisp sounding amp, and crisp sounding speakers - and I love it, but rearviewmirror by pearljam needs EQ

Me I am interested when a musician is hearing such new DACs and says it doesn't sound rigth to them. Music is made to be joyfull not thin as paper you can hear varangs copulate in the bushes in the background of your reccordings ! 😱 The informations behind the paper and not themain writting on it as main information.
