It´s loose airy slippers and socks that get the solder drips. Age-wise, I´have become a rather an untidy operator.Note, dropping the soldering iron on your leg sucks. I don't wear shorts when soldering anymore. I still manage to solder my fingers almost every time I build something. The problem is that I smell it before I feel it.
I´m the one who did destroy large speaker cones...the coils survived but paper surrounds simply frayed and away all went.....okay, other readers take note, that during the 1960-70´s, an ultimate level of loudness and bass shakin´ in the gut was tolerated til many of us ex cello pluckin´ players suffered from Tinnitus......then just to complete it, my broad engineering saw me in naval ships enginerooms with fag paper rolled up in the ears. Strangely, decades later the hearing has restored that now can hear to 9khz without hearing aids. Age-wise I am lucky but time running out (for all of us).....dammned eyesight simply wearing out and there´s nothing one can do.
500W from 8x EH KT90´s, in PP push-pull in bridge mode from them a mere breeze at only 600V+ in UL. These tubes are probably the best lowest distortion beam ones for audio ever produced, but also no-one ignore the stumpy 5881´s (those with the enhanced 6L6 spec) can be pushed too.
