Ribbon suspension peaces.... only came with Apogee stock MT ribbon replacements.....than where used on all Apogee.....like the Grand Stages,an all other haybrids.... as was 4ea added magnets..2 at the top an 2 at the bottem.....as seen in pic1..of a pic of a ribbon trying to swist from being driven hard maybe ...it standing up......tork..with added magnets it would have ripet the ribbon off with out the suspension peaces...
I new the movement of the ribbon would be increst......with added magnets...for more output..see the 2ea add bottem magnets that fill the gap... so called ribbon port.. that's on the the minny frist Stages, centars minors ribbons...
2pic are my Stages type....
an then
3pic Delta,s....that i think may have more output.......for sure it got a diff inpedancs two show the amps....righjt...who knows..

I've just checked the box of fixings and I DO have the suspension pieces. Churlish not to fit them.
Been busy this evening. pics to follow But have
cleaned grilles (slug problem before we replaced the floor)
drilled out grill mounting holes to 10mm so i can take them off for listening
De-wired first ribbon. Bitch of a job as all the wires were bent over and you can't just cut them (well i could but only solid core I have is mains wire).
I am going to practice tensioning on the old ribbon tomorrow as noticed it's easy to put a twist in the ribbon. but first I need to work out exactly what the foam paint roller is for.

Yes....There NO going back with the suspension pieces......No way to A/B to see whish sounds better. with or without.........
Graz sends them for the others.... the Minors crossover is higher than all others.... MT has almost NO movement ever when driven Hard....
but I think I see what the roller for...go here an scoll down...looks like it to hang the end of the ribbon over.....to get the right tichen....maybe...

I got the instructions over night so all explained. The suspension pieces are not recommended unless you really bang head and need that support. I don't so may leave them.
billshurv, take care, you must have good soldering iron and perform each weld within 4 sec as Graz instructed. Good luck
.

Pic 2 are Graz Ribbons. You will notice they dispense with the nylon clamp. This is good as that is where my ribbons failed. Aluminium is really not the best metal for wiggling around.
Yes but pic 2 MT came out of Stages, so how do you get the right tenson? or is one size fit all with the Graz ribbon?
I gess there all the same....?
I gess there all the same....?
some early apogees had a different PCB, but the 26" ribbon was the same in all models. Your pic 3 was the '3+3' design, to which you can fit a Graz as he does a special PCB.
well first ribbon installed back in speaker and started on the second. second one has a cracked magnet, possibly from when one of my kids knocked it over years ago. can't replace it so will put some tape around to make sure it can't move.
Cant glue?....man would not wont to damage the new ribbon....youll do the right thing...pay me no mind...thinking outloud....
I was think of add magnets two the top two bottem .I have a guy that has a pr of ripet Duetta bass panels may get just for the magnets..like the newer MT for more output...but then I would have to make my on suspension peaces....look like with out them may rip the ribbon....I gess I need to move on from these old Apogee....I gess iam stuck in the 90s.....

Glue might be a possibility, would epoxy do?
If you want suspension pieces you are welcome to mine as I won't use them.

epoxy....that would be the way to go....that's what I ment to say...
...can you post a pic of the paper work you got an the suspension pieces ...thanks for your time bill..........

suspension no problem, will send a pic tonight. I can't share the instruction tho (but will say that for what you are interested in, the apogee instructions are the same).
Right pic time. excuse awful background again (but I have full approval for man shed now) and some resizing that doesn't seem to have worked.
First pic is the ribbon before. You can see how manky the original is and if you look closely you can see one of my running repairs that kept them going for the last 5 years.
Second is the ribbon after. The double sided duct tape holding the wiring down had completed lost its stick. I did have some fresh double sided, but decided to tape it down properly. no flappy wires in my ribbons.
Third is a close up so you can see the difference in the mounting and clamping. No clamp creating a stress point on the ribbon!
last one is the cracked magnet. Now epoxied and curing.

Well as I said....Its a oneway trip......I know it has to change the Sound....Adding mass to a vary lite ribbon....like you say if you have movement in the 26" ribbon but still... I think it was made for the 26" ribbons with added magnets....to get the small I think added output..
....mabe it made big diff ..
One thing I did find was a pic...from the side ...of the Stage Grand...
I had only saw them from front in pic....you can see thay made a biger vertical slot...at top an bottem..maybe better disbesion.....
how know are cares...right..hehe......old Apogee ribbon .....geessssssssssss
