Would we fall foul of the law if beer was free but you needed a ticket to get a pint, and you get 4 tickets upon entry and payment of the door charge to cover event costs?
edit: problem then is maybe an inflated entry cost to those that don't want to drink beer.
SY said:I see that EC8010 will be making the haul up to the Midlands. He is hereby reminded that an oversized can of Summer Lightning will be greatly appreciated.
Summer Lightning and the amplifier (hopefully excluding lightning) are contingent on She Who Must be Obeyed driving me up there. If I have to go up there on a bike then I won't be able to take anything. Anyway, your request is duly noted.
And yes, we're talking about the Hop Back brewery.
A keg would be lovely; I'd be happy to pitch in.
The big can I was talking about is something like a gallon. When I first saw one, I immediately thought, "Amplifier chassis!" Then I started drinking and put such thoughts away.
EC, if She doesn't drive you, the Big Can is a perfect excuse to ride the tandem up. A few bungee cords and that Can will serve as a perfect counterweight on the rear seat.

Go wash your mouth out with soap.

I think its important at this juncture to point out that its absolutely fine to consume there though 🙂
So I see a definite loophole to be exploited, providing no alcohol related money changes hands on the premises then I can't see a problem.
I'll be bringing a pack of my favourite - Sol, just for me mind. I'll bring some Fosters to share with you plebs. 😀

As I understand it (and I may be wrong😉 ), if the 'free' provision of alcohol encourages people to visit an event, then the venue must still be licensed🙁Would we fall foul of the law if beer was free but you needed a ticket to get a pint, and you get 4 tickets upon entry and payment of the door charge to cover event costs?
I don't see why participants couldn't club together and organise a beer fund before the event, though, if someone would be willing to buy and transport drinks to the venue.
Surely it's not a problem to just bring your own beer ? Just work out what you think you'll need, double it and throw in a bottle of spirit and you're covered
Hopefully there will be provisions for ice..

Should have added, if anyone has a few lab12's they can lend me for the weekend that would be appreciated..

What about everyone just brings a little of what they fancy and then we share and sample. If we run out then there's two off-licenses across the road as well a Tesco and Sainsburys only 5 minutes drive away.
Al also needs to do us another graphic changing the title of the event to 'ukayDIyshh2007' to reflect the love of alcohol. 😀

Agreed, no beer is marginally better than warm beer.
There are a couple of fridges to keep the beer cool though not sure about a freezer though.
Might have to buy some of those ready made icecubes that come in bags and cost about £2 quid for a fraction of a pence worth of water.
Ỳeah but you try making ice as good as the stuff in bags 😉
Just emailed bkelec to see if they'll loan me some lab12's in the spirit of diy...

Haha Well the lab12's are for my labhorn cabs. I have 2 labhorns that are installed behind my screen, and have the panels cut for another 4. The ones in my front room are wedged between my floor and ceiling, and behind my projector screen. When I say wedged I mean it too - they took out some plasterboard when they were installed.
I'm quite happy to assemble my other 4 , but don't really need them at the moment, hence the need for borrowing drivers - don't really want to spend £800 on drivers just to show off some cabs.
Hopefully bk might see some pr potential and lend me some.
Also need some amps really - will probably hire a couple amps if I can't source some. Have 1 qsc rmx 1850hd, need 2. I can bring my dcx xo's etc to make some sort of system up.

Hey, just bring the wood, I'll bring my collection of battery screwdrivers, and we can make an event out of them. Team Labhorn building! 🙂

Team Labhorn building + beer + powertools. Don't worry there's hospital nearby 🙂
Rob has 4 cabs as well so we could have a race to see who finishes first to add even more danger. And the winning team gets to sleep inside the labhorn overnight instead a hotel.
