Cui,
I went over the service manual many times but it does not even mention any keys or factory mode.
I have a feeling the guy that got me this manual left out some sections. It has scehmatics and many detailed items but I consider it very plain and not what I expected.
If you have a service manual, please let me know what chaptors or sections you are seeing this factory mode option in.
Thanks,

NEC NP4203MF02 data sheet

Hi guys,

first of all - greetings from Austria.
Nice to see that there are people with the same "problem" on planet earth;-)) A long time it seems that I´m the only one with this little PDP fom Baltimore;-))

But now there might be a breakthrough in our struggle to complete our cheap Plasma-TV project!

I just received a 28 pages "thick" data sheet for the NEC NP4203MF02 panel.

Urgent need => mail me;-))

NEC PlasmaSync 4210W problem

Guys - I was reading the thread about people with NEC Plasma issues.. and mine is similar but different. I got my NEC plasmasync 4210W (PX-42M5A) at an auction. I eventually got the remote from NEC service (terrible service) & I have been using it happily with my HTPC - until yesterday.

I think the room got a little too hot - but it just shut off. Now even after unplugging it for 2 days - it only powers on for a brief moment - spins the fans and shuts off.. It won't display a thing - not even the RGB / HD input selector.

Do you think this is a fuse or a thermal cut out?

I have mailed around looking for a service manual - but have had no luck.. I am looking for hints on whether there's anything I might be able to check like a simple fuse location?

Cheers in advance!

Well unfortunatly jp42 from what I have learned in this mile long thread is that you might have a short in one of the video driver IC`s located in the back side of the display.When one of these IC`s short it shuts the whole dispaly down just like you have described. This seems to be a common occurance with the first generation NEC displays. How ever you can get the plasma to work again buy finding the shorted section and unplugging it from the display.This will keep the plasma from shorting and then shutting down. Of coarse there will be a black section of the screen where there will be no picture but at least you can still use the plasma. And if your lucky the shorted section will be off to one side so you can still use it for a pc monitor or something.This is just my assumption. There could have been many different things that went wrong. But a short in one of the video drivers is likely. Here are some pics of what the short will look like. Some disassembly will be required to get to the ribbon cable that holds the drivers ,but it is not hard, just alot of screws. As you can see in the pic, the burned part is where the short is. Good Luck
