Hi soundbrigade,
UPS is by far and away the worst courier I can think of.

We have UPS (Oops!), Canpar (Can smash), Purolater (Percolator) and a couple that went out of business for poor performance. Fedex and Canada Post are probably the best two now, along with some others that aren't bad (I just can't remember them right now).Swedish/Danish post - PostNord have a very bad reputation. That bad that the company often is nicknamed PostMord,

Helped a friend buy a Lenovo T450s laptop (i5) from my computer parts / system supplier. He should receive it today. We are all pretty excited for him. He was using a netbook with REW, which was just painful to watch.

Purolator isn't a bad courier, we just had a funny name for them.
The name comes from the US oil filter company that owned them for a while. The red, white and blue Purolator filters were a common item in the K-mart store near my childhood house in Miami.....back when Sam Walton had one store in Arkansas.
Hi George,
Thanks for the historical link. I always wondered how they came by that name.

I avoid UPS like the plague for international shipments, but must say they are doing a pretty decent job on all our packages from Costco. Haven't been to a Costco in person since social distancing started, what with how I detest line ups and my wife's-not-yet-clinical-hypochondria.
Bought 2 dusk-till-dawn coach lights for the front of the house, the petty theft is continually on the rise in Calgary.

Resistors, caps, and terminal strips from the Mouse along with an N68-X. Converting the kt88 amp to cathode bias and prepping it for liquidation.
Nice description.

It stands for "Pure oil later". The US filter make acquired the Trans Canada Couriers, LTD. in 1967 apparently. Now it's mostly owned by Canada Post.
Too bad they contract out international shipments to UPS.
EDIT: I see George beat me to the explanation 🙂
Hi kodabmx,
Details on your amp? I have a customer looking for one. I finally got him to get out from under a Dynaco modified ST-70. He needs a decent amplifier. I'll put you two in direct contact.
PM me please, I can give you my number.

A 4 BR costs $AUS170K in Brisbane? **** me!
I'm in Brisbane right now, but that's not where the house is. It's in country New South Wales.
A 4BR in Brisbane runs around AU$350k-400k.

Congratulation on the purchase Rob.
Cheers mate. At 67 I figured it was time to settle down. BTW it's actually a decommissioned Post Office, so it could be said that I've "gone postal." 🙂
More recent purchases: well the Oppo 103D was nice enough, but a 105D came up and we all know how much better their audio is, so I had to buy it. Then there was a 203 at a fantastic price, so ...
At this rate I'll have one in every room.

OH! So jealous!
@haiqu, congrats on the house. Sounds like you got it for way less than replacement cost of the building alone!
Thanks Tony. Yeah, you don't see bargains like that very often so I jumped on it. Living 3 hours from the coast will be different but having the space to spread out my hobbies is more important to me.
Already said congrats, and now we're all waiting for the pics of the new abode. Buck up mister.
Didn't want to be gazumped on the deal, but now that the contracts have exchanged ...

That is so cool like anatech says. Are you allowed to live in that building? Is that front patio easily accessed?so I had to buy it.
When are we allowed to visit?

It was the residence of the postmaster from 1893 until 2016 and currently has a tenant, so there's 127 years of precedent for people living there. The front patio is accessible via a door from each of the two front bedrooms. I'll be putting the excess rooms on AirBNB as soon as I have the place in shape, so probably the end of the year, but I've already indicated to many close friends that they're always welcome to drop in and stay a few days.
Here's a shot of the open area downstairs, which I plan to turn into an electronics workshop:
