Now how am I going to chase those threads clean? Who'd even have a die that's like 8 turns per inch? Guess I'll be doing a lot of filing, if I ever want to swing it 45 deg.
These are fairly common screw threads in the woodworking machines field..
I got the blade out to 45 deg; took a couple of hours filing, chasing, sanding, greasing - not in that particular order. Yay!
I guess all the screw part does is move everything into position, then you lock it down when satisfied. My father made me a set of bookshelfs with the Goodmans 4" woofer and a CTS tweeter. He even couldnt get the 45s exact on his Shopsmith. Perhaps one day I'll use it to nice effect.

A Dyson AM09 upright table/floor fan.
Nice features:
Remote control
10 speeds
Oscillation
Wide/narrow broadcast
Timer
Heater
Quiet
The drawback being you pay Dyson price for it. The other concern is that with the amount of heat we have had recently, any kind of fan is in short supply.

Last week: One pair of E J Jordan Eikonas.

Today is a new clutch for the car... I used to do that type of work myself, but I'm twenty years older now and I just don't want to anymore.

I’m wondering which way I will decide to go when the time arrives…
Today I ordered some rot-gut Bluetooth boards to update the shop system at work.
What is the valve for?
Not the audio variety

I couldn't replace the car for anywhere near the cost of repairing it without buying a total piece of crap.
It's the last normally aspirated inline 6 BMW used, and it's 6 speed manual without iDrive! The radio still has button and knobs like a car radio should and my phone does what the iDrive does. If the car had iDrive, it would be 10 years old and look it's age anyway.
The original clutch lasted 245,000 km so I expect this car will last me a while. I replaced the shocks/struts and springs 2 weeks ago 🙂
Now I need to buy a pair of tires. I doubt the "run flat" tire enjoyed going 250km at 140 km/h with 8 PSI instead of 33, and you should always replace tires in pairs (along with suspension parts).
It's still being serviced but hopefully I'll have it back today.

“Rot-gut”? Are you sure that’s an upgrade? Perhaps an old Bogen with a couple of 6V6 connected by twisted pair to a turntable with a ceramic cartridge?

I remember those cars. And it was before they introduced their modern steering. Before that they still had the worlds best steering set up. I had a couple as rentals once and they really did feel like the ultimate driving machine. I was waiting til I had money to buy one as they were too expensive when I was starting out. I kinda missed the boat because those days have passed, I’ve no interest in buying their current models with 4-banger engines etc. and I don’t want to maintain an old beemer.
A Yamaha RX-396 from Goodwill for $7.99. All discrete component amp, plays nicely in the shop, has a loudness control which I use. Now I could listen to records out there!
An 8" Irwin clamp for $1 at a yard sale.

Ya, the steering set up is quite good. The latest 3 series is quite a good car and those 4 cyl turbo engines are solid. That's part of the problem though. I could deal with a turbo but my car still has analog gauges 🙂 All the new cars have a screen with gauges on it unless you buy cheap trash 🙂 And almost all cars come with a screen for the climate and radio now even if they don't have satnav.
The tire was fine BTW. It was a cracked wheel which has since been welded and now will be sold as a set and replaced with actually BMW wheels... These are replicas.

Yeah, one of my relatives has an M5 with a flat screen instrument panel, just has no character to it.
Nowadays there are few cars that have soul. Probably the best option for new is Porsche, they still have a classic look but they aren’t nearly as practical as a daily drive compared with the 3-series and I’m old enough not to want to repeat the bumpy ride experiences of an old MG or ‘stang.
