I can't even imagine what that is going to look like Cal. Please post a picture when you are done.
We have just started revamping the front balcony.
Wire shelf:
We were given the shelves but nothing else.
Paint roller handles as legs have been screwed into half tennis balls for weight distribution
Hose clamps are used to support the shelves
Tile shims used to center the shelves on the poles
Unit on the right to hold it steady L-R and I'll run a tag line back to the wall to do the F-R stabilizing.
Apparently I like to stick my finger in the upper right of some pics.
First step in our latest venture: So far so good.

Hi Chris
I used a fluke 5101B in the cal lab back in the day. very heavy. It was nice, that and a 8902 and you have some nice cal gear. I remember a fluke employee saying that they stopped making them because of the discontinuation of some optic coupler part. I have never serviced one, it went to fluke for cal of course.

I paid an Ortho doctor today to tell me I need a knee replacement. I have 6 months to 5 years depending on how I respond to steroids and exercise.
The irony is that it is my left knee which has never been operated on. Rt knee has had 6 surgeries including two intramedullary nails.

TKS.
I knew there was something wrong. Knee started going weak on me going down the steps, and would fail to hold my weight.
The doctor seemed optimistic that I could push it out a few years with my lifestyle (ride bicycle several times a week, garden, mow lawn, Kayak, etc).
It could always be worse. 🙄

Wishing you the best Gimp. You kinda need your knees.
Hi Rick,
I was used to the 5500A and the 5700A. But this is light years ahead of my RFL calibrator. This unit has the wide band option as well. I'm also trying to make a deal for a more modern oscilloscope calibrator. UPS smashed the handles on this unit. 🙁
Just sparked it up and I get "err 6" and "L err". I see some rebuild work in the near future. That will most likely get rid of the errors and breathe new life into it. Otherwise it seems to work.

As much as I admire your inner MacGyver……….pricing the actual replacement parts (which were available with free shipping) I come up with under $40 😉
Under $40?
Bob, I have to put you to the test. I have 5 of the 24" x 18" shelves so I need 4 of the 72" chrome legs and 20 of the stoppers for the shelves. While you're at it please add a set of stationary feet.
Did I mention I live in Canada? I have Amazon.ca Prime if that helps.

Alright, well you canucks seem to pay a bit more for the same things……priced out to $55 and change (US) for what I priced here for right at $40 (US)
But if you subtract what you have in materials it probably isn’t that much difference?
Edit……74” was only a dollar more here but couldn’t find them on Amazon ca. in the amount of time I thought worth wasting! 😀

Okay thanks for looking that up.
The 72" I didn't see but I'll believe you.
There's a reason I did what I did my friend. 😉
Cheers Bob. I hope your weekend goes well. Besides, who can resist tennis balls as feet? I tell ya man, they're not only clever and practical, they're also sexy to a tennis player. I know many. 🙂

Are you just crawling out of a cave Bob?Alright, well you canucks seem to pay a bit more for the same things
Price difference? If you mention that again where my wife might see it, I am going to use my tracking skills and hunt you down. My marriage is already kinda funny so I have nothing to lose. (kidding)But if you subtract what you have in materials it probably isn’t that much difference?
Hence what you see Bob, hence what you see. Put this to rest or things are going to get ugly. (my wife might see this)in the amount of time I thought worth wasting!
Seriously, this is a great project that I might come up with something that would be half the price but my honey sees me as having done something 'manly' (read McGyver) and that is no longer easy to do now that I live in a townhouse and dealing with a sh!tload of body problems. Best I can do now is rebuild the washer system in a Crane tap set.
Don't get me started mister, Im having fun here.
Bob I hope you have a great weekend and looking at you avatar, I bet we would gel along fine.
Working on getting a non-working Ballantine 6127A oscilloscope calibrator. No way I can afford a functional one.
Today I bought the wrong pvc plumbing bits to finish my 2nd bathroom up…….back to the hardware store tomorrow!
It’s ok Cal…….just label it as a artistic statement then one can get away with anything! 😀
LOOK………a UFO!
