The most think, a wide frequence-band, linear, is the reason for clean, good performance. But it is not. Not important.
Ex.: Knock at the casings and listen. That is the basic sound of your system.
Than think: ONE tone separated in 16 (?) DIFFERENT sounding drivers. 16 directions, 16 times, 2 x 8 different materials including separate resonances, reflections. 2 x 8 different crossovers, unnecessary diameters of cables ... I do not speak about materials, magnets of drivers, of masses, rigidities ... and sooo much more, that influences a clean performance, that produces tones, who are not: DISTORTIONS!

Use the mids, stands, try a lot with build in, damping, cables, connectors may be.

The "worst" is the VFA ? why ... only 43V/us ?
I see the H/K430 mentioned here. HK680 (slew OPS) HK990 , all those are
<50V/us VFA - "worst" ? ...
I use my old 680 to judge the slews.
To me best is one that lasts 20 years , stays cool , is not overly complicated
and brings joy to any decent loudspeaker.

It was an old mediocre design, but yes a VFA and a lot less than 45V/us.
I have several H/K but forgot the models, sound, specs or even the schematics. The only one which name I remember is a Citation 24. Have you heard this amp, what do you think of it?

Here is something that looks excellent make sure you read all the notes about the amplifier ...this looks to be a winner!!
not "laboratory grade" low distortion but very stable .IMO this is paramount!!!!

That is my "spookyamp" without the VAS cascode.
That Carver 705 uses all sorts of marketing B$ , like "power steering" -
for just a bog standard leach amp with a triple EF output.
It most likely sounds good , this is the best topology for bass definition ....
most AB subwoofer amps use this design.

That is a very complex x-complementary-pp-stages. The reason, why not, why never sound clean, in bass too. The most misunderstand the context speakers - amp: horrible speakers do need horrible amps. No doubt, your speakers and the carver will match.
