Alpair Pensil 10p Build - and Questions

Gentlemen

Update on pensil 11

As i was explaining before i had a cancellation from 70 to 150 hz to deal with.

Eventually i found out that the cancellation was minimized by moving the listening spot further away from from back wall and towards the front. But doing so decreased my low end extension to 45hz.

Followed by that i was able to tweak the low end a little bit and 70 to 150 hz using parametric eq.

The directivity of these drivers at high freqs seems to drop down significantly off axis. Kind of suspected it when i saw the on-axis response designed to be extra bright in spec sheet of alpair 11ms.

But still if i keep the drivers without any toe-in the high range goes close to 8db below compared to low-mid range freqs.

I did take out some stuffing but didnt help much. Eventually i settled on a certain amount of toe-in which wouldnt make it too bright nor too dry.

One thing i am still baffled about is that the sound stage is significantly better without toe-in but as i stated earlier due to drop of high frequencies i had to make the compromise of toe-in hence losing a bit of sound stage.

For catering for early reflections i have lined opposite side only in the vicinity of driver with jute felt. Will this be the culprit behind loss of high freq off-axis..?

There is a drop of response at around 400hz which also reflects in the driver official spec. I didn't tweak this in parametric eq since it looks like a driver limitation. I dont wanna damage the driver by pushing on its inherent limitation points. Please suggest if any of you think otherwise
