what is available locally to you , without arm and leg tag price?
Most of the Emionences, if they have them in stock. Otherwise I import, either by posting or UPS etc with enough value and weight to make the duties and fees bearable, spread over a number of drivers.
Otherwise, not much else except PAudio, some of which are OK.

I've just mounted the spekers on a front baffle. http://hantl.info/~spks/my-all-eminence-ob/not-finished-just-enjoying-music.jpg

And.... nice sound. But then I added a ******* of bass on my amp and got NIRVANA. I know i'm probably overreacting but its insane.. Its the best sound i heard in my life. It is very present, detailed and tight.

I still need to lower the tweeter a few db (for now i lowered it on the amp) and i think i'll try to cross the woofer higher because i think i hear a small gap in deep voices. But that depends.. The baffle is not finished yet.

Edit

To Yunick : The coil shifts the phase in opposite direction than cappacitors so i changed the phase on the woofer. Did you try it? I tried both and switched phase seems to be ideal.

ugly!
:devilr:

have you side wings,as on Yunicks OBs?
as bigwill sez- they're important

for sound.......... I told you that.......... Poor Man OB is certainly surprise ;

how your Xover looks?

edit:

you now certainly need another amp- one from "no tone frills" category

:clown:

editedit:

now I see that you placed main driver on top;
mebbe is better to have it closer to Beta....... offten (where is da lambda when ya need it ) is Lambda/4 good rule 😉

Another ugly picture. Now featuring cabinets. http://hantl.info/~spks/my-all-eminence-ob/cabinets.jpg

They are not very precise but.. i hope it will have no effect on the sound😉.

My XO is the one you suggested. ~150Hz choke on betas, ~350 on mid and i was going to make 10kHz highpass for the tweeter but i could get parts only for around ~13kHz which doesn't bother me right now because the time to experiment with XO will come later.

Whats the "no tone frills" category? 🙂

I placed the alpha on top because i like it visually and it fits the listening height when the front is angled. Whats Lambda/4?

no tone...... controls 😉

considering that - you probably use some dreky integrated amp ..... there is no music ; period .

Lambda /4 ...... in fact Lambda/2 - more relaxed rule .... half of wavelength at xover frequency ; say that's 250-300Hz acoustically .

edit:
looking at that pic ... are front baffles angled back or not?

they need to be .

I'm really glad you like them, hakunin.. 🙂

they are really enjoyable to listen to and the price performance is astonishing.. 😀😀

I still have not hade the time to fiddle more with mine... As they are now they sound so good Im just enjoying listening to them..

I have found a place nerby that sells the paint for EnABL treatment, so hopfully next week I can pick up a bottle or two.. 🙂

Good luck with your project Hakunin 😉

My amp is Technics SU-VX500.

Thanks for explenation of the lambda rule. Next time i'll use it🙂

They are angled http://hantl.info/~spks/my-all-eminence-ob/mounting-speakers.jpg

Thanks. Did your drivers break in? I'll wait a while before i start playing with the XO or other things.

They have certanly changed over the first week.. Now they are played by my wife and son all day when I'm at work.. so they should be fairly broken in by now 🙂

I will try bucherout for the Alpha today..

I'll also try your suggestion for the Beta.. Thanks 🙂

you can expect benefits from boucherot only in upper part of range ,but only if you gave xover in that range (Low pass) ;
because your alpha have just HP xover, there is no benefit in impedance linearisation with boucherot
