how much did those boards cost + shipping to sweden? or is any layout availible? of the finalised version?

Peter: The white caps are 10uF polypropylene from Mundorf, quite popular here in Germany and really good for the money.
Brian: I don’t know if the crosshatched ground plane make any difference over a standard ground plane, but I saw it on the XOno and copied it in. BTW: Wayne Colburn already answered this question some weeks ago in a other thread here in diyAudio.
Regarding the PCBs: Over to you Bouke, it’s your turn. I’ll not open a second source for PCBs useing my layout, if not otherwise instructed by Bouke.

Sorry, sorry, but the white mcaps are really bad they resonate like hell and sound like motorsaws. Wima mkp4 are the same price and sound much better. Or take mundorf mcapzn they are even better, but for a higher price.
I'm flattered to see so much confidence in me
... I do my best not to let you guys down....
So here it is: The Main Board. Finished at last! 🙂
Here is a link to see it in a bigger size (1024 pixels wide)
Regarding the image(s): As I said before, the actual size is 8 x 27 cm. The board is viewd from above with the components facing up. Red is the bottom layer (soldering side), which I used for all signal conductors. Green is the top layer (component side) which I used for the DC power conductors
In these images I have omitted the ground planes. There are ground planes on both sides of the PCB
For now the planning is as following:
1. Make a mono prototype in the cheapest way possible. I want to know it works for sure.
2. Notify you guys. Everyone that has given his interest will get an email. I will then need your confirmation and adresses.
3. Begin payment procedures. I have decided to use paypal. I think its the easyest way to do it.
4. In hte mean while order the PCB's
5. Send the boards all over the world 🙂

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Brian,
Thinking about ground planes: Cross-hatched ground planes are mostly useful in HF-applications. HF-currents inside conductors appear to flow on the walls of the conductors itself instead of using the entire surface. It is known as the skin-effect.
Because audio is not HF, actually solid groundplanes would be better, but there isn't much difference. I have used both in my design.
This is a close up from the bottom layer only

Bouke,
The board looks great 😀 I can't wait to get a set, I'm definitely in for a deluxe set. I'm glad I asked if you'd be making boards available 🙂 Any idea how long it will be until the boards will be ready? Weeks or months? I'm going to start gathering parts, I have k389, but need to order a large quantity of k170. If anyone is interested, I will make sets of k170 available for sale, but it takes me 4-6 weeks to get them in from Japan, BL colour group.
Thanks again for all of the hard work!
Regards,
Ron

Ron,
Did you try Chinese guys on Matheson Blvd & Dixie area? I don't know if it was BL group but I was buying k170 fets from them.

Here is a contact info: AA Electronics, 905-206-0931. I've been there today. They currently don't have 2SK170 but ordered them and expect shipment beginning of November.
Set your orders!
Hello everybody,
I have made an information page on my website . You can also find an order form there to set your orders. It will remain there until I finally send out the bulk order.
You can also download the pcb files, the schematics used and view the pcb layouts.
Just click the link on the left (below the "News" Header)

All,
I have ordered the Prototypes for the PCB's. I expect them to be ready within a week, after which I will start building the ultra-low-cost version... (just to make sure I haven't made any errors in the PCB layout).

Ono Parts
What flavour of caps and resistors best suit this design? Would anyone list the best componants? What are the most important and where would money would be wasted with high priced parts..

Hmmmm....I think it could use a bit more salt and just dash of tantulum nitride.
Chopping some ONOions,
Fred
P.S.
I hope no one actually tries to answer this or we will have another 60 page thread. There have been many recommendations for components here on the forum.
I think picking out a wife for you would be easier than the task you have set for us.
How about an easy question like" Does God really exist and what is it exactly that he wants?"

Chopping Onions... BAM!
Thanks for the links Fred.. As I am new to this forum I've yet to get caught in a swirling vortex of unending threads.
I was kind of proud that this thread has gotten to 7 pages but 60 would be great! By the way I am a happy bachelor and if God is listening I'm sure he's into good Jazz, on vinyl of course😎

Yikes!!I just started reading the threads on Caps and resistors ..
I don't want to dillute this thread by getting into hostile territory.
Perhaps I should ask what does Nelson Pass use in the production Xono?
