Aleph Jzm

AJzm is biased and plying. I had planed for monoblocks or dual mono but I couldn’t wait. Now the AJzm have a general psu and a leftover 400VA. The interior is somewhat quick-n-dirty. I been downsizing speakers from Cornwalls to small ZU. The 12 ohms enjoying the AJzm and sounds great att all levels with Iron Turtle Pumkin at 0dB gain.

It’s dialysis for my brain. The cricket is smiling.

“Practically every one must have at least one Aleph in house” /ZM

My previous Aleph I gave away so now the order is restored. Thousand thanks to ZM and NP.

Hi, I am halfway with my build, and see lots of people adding a speaker protect/delay board. Is that unnecessary (going on the assumption I built everything correctly), and just being cautious?
I would first test my finished amp with some old speakers I have lying around, before connecting them to my slightly better ones. But am worried about on/off noise/loud pops.
No speakers have been harmed in previous projects, and there is a CL60 in my PSU for limiting inrush current, so I thought a protect/delay board would not be needed?

So I'm a little nervous to post this here, but here goes. My first FW variant build. A few things to note; yes I know the wire color isn't optimal, I was apparently a Greedy Boy and impatient, on a roll and it's what I had on hand. Keen eyes might see no washers on the outputs in a few photos, I corrected this with the pennies. When the washers are $0.08 a piece I have $0.04 and a drill I can get it done (Let's please not run this into a defacing currency diatribe). Running it through some "sacrificial" speakers for a bit before I hook it up to the main system. Sounding wonderful through the test speaks driven from my phone.

Thanks to all here for answering questions and special thanks to the mighty ZM, NP, It'sAllInMyHead, 6L6, RHThatcher...and many others for their continuing support of this community. It's truly a special place.

Cheers all!

I built the ACA Mini, and that is fine. I thought I would build a lower output, say 5 watt Aleph JZM. I have one board together and am using the heat sinks supplied from the ACA Mini. Rails are plus and minus 15 volts. Voltage over r29 is 450mv. Heat sinks of course, very hot.
What rails and voltage over r29 should I be looking for to get 5 watts out of the JZM. With the JZM I like the idea of no coupling capacitors. Also will use Meanwell SMPS supplies because of simplicity. (Papa says Why Not)

Thanks for anybodies comments...

when prototyping, I'll use even candle as PSU, if sufficient

if building for utter and sheer hedonism, I'm throwing in as many iron and copper chunks I can squeeze

but that's me, rest of world is free to use common sense

though, I'm somehow reluctant to err on side of convenience, just to be forced to patch in drekload of additional filtering

ahem, not I didn't put half of dozen proper 24Vdc switchers on my shelf
