check resistors; wrong value somewhere?
be sure that problem isn't upstream (swap cables from source) and that input is connected properly (SE/Bal)

Yes.... check the red and blue resistors... make sure R4 is not 22.1kSo I fired up the Aleph and of course there is a problem GRRRRR! One channel sounds normal, the other channel seems to be much lower volume. Any thoughts?
Also, input wiring is SE, will check the cabling.
means, neg. input is grounded?
Bingo ZM! I had the neg input attached to ground, switched it, works perfect now! Thank you so much! You guys are utterly amazing!
@Centurion53
The negative input is supposed to to be grounded when making SE connection. Are you sure you didn’t have one channel grounded but not the other?

Suggestion: Move your green wire on your black 3 terminal phoenix terminal on your main amp pcb to the other empty hole. Just like Kevin Heem said.
(-) Analog input is used with XLR connections which you obviously don’t have.
Or connect a small wire from where your green wire is connected to the empty hole in the black phoenix terminal.
Since you covered up the silkscreen with your black phoenix terminals, you don’t have a designation for what is IN (+), IN (-) or GND anymore.
Best,
Anand.

Well I moved both to the ground terminal and it works but interestingly enough it sounded equally as good with both landed on the negative terminal. However, that being said I appreciate the education that I receive from the diyAudio forums, you are a very kind and generous lot!
Here’s a pic straight from the build guide. See how the - IN and GND are connected? You need to do the same for your amp to work properly.

ZenMod, Kevin & Boky are right. It’s not enough to just connect rca gnd tab to gnd on the pcb, one should also ground the (-) input of the differential pair JFET.
I remember doing that on my build except I did it on the reverse side of the pcb when I had built the Aleph J. Fond memories.
Best,
Anand.

Whatever works! @Centurion53 can use two wet fingers for all I care, but that connection needs to be made. it’s as simple as a jumper between pins 1 and 3 on his connector.I did it on the reverse side of the pcb…
