Aleph 3? Project.

Hi,
I have built aleph 3. My power supply is 21.5 volts x 2, capacitors 40.000 uF x 2 . I think that low frequency are hard and the trumpet is monotone with my two-way Dynaudio 4 ohm. Can I do something? The buffer is B1.

Hard to say. let's for now asume your aleph is build the correct way. Then my first question would be: you always listened to these speakers? (so you would notice the difference of a new amp.) The aleph should have enough power to drive a decent pair of 2 way's. Have you tried other speakers? And how sensitive are your dynaudio's ?

Thanks for your answers. Gainclone and Amp Camp are OK with my speakers.
I measured various aleph 3 zones and are corresponding to the schematic. The measurements are only slightly less beacause power supply is 22 v. I will try with other speakers. I had the same problems with F5.:rain:

change speakers ...... or build bigger Aleph ....... or other Papamp

Dynaudios are efficient in a way , but usually demands bigger amp for proper vividness

Isn't the aleph more of an 8 ohm amp anyways? I'm an aleph guy, but I'd never say the bass was hard, or anything else mono tone. If anything, it's too liquid at times.. particularly when I just want it to rock. One reason alone for my eventual goal of want to bi-amp the aleph mid/high and something else low (F5?) But then again I'm also a 3-way speaker guy too..

I think Zen Mod is the one who could give you the best answer on this. But from various reviews i understood that the aleph 3 is more in it's element with a lower impedance. Doubling the power output. But i could be wrong......

Sent with tapatalk from a lazy chair......

Aleph 3 is amp for old school spks

Dynaudio aren't of that type , definitive

old Scan Speaks (same origin of construction ) are , same as old Dynaudios

when they chose big dia voice coils , ferofluid and other wizbiz as enormous peak power capability , the also chose gargantuan power needed for squeezing da finesse from them

so , as I already said - either build bigger Aleph or other amp , or change speaks , for something more oldschoolish :clown:

as illustration - my main spks are 15" coaxes , 16R , no more than 92db/W/m ....... but I'm happy even with 2W@8R SE-ish in nature amps

go figure .......... and I had Dynaudio 3ways with 30W100 , somewhere in previous life .......

Yeah, I'm not scientific minded enough to understand why the aleph wants old school, I just fell into it with my early 80's Kenwood 10" floor standers and their $6 Audax closeout midranges from Parts Express. Certainly not cool by any standard, but it just works and I lament how I'm going to improve on this, because the diy bug says you have to keep trying. But something inside me resists.. as the music flows.

Actually scientifically speaking, wouldn't it have something to do with damping factor? When I think Aleph I think speakers you could blow out with another amp, so you listen "up to" that level.. with the nuance, the sensitivity... the liveliness of something that is barely being controlled, and yet is a rich at the same time.. like a desirable woman. She says no, but what she really means in yes.. yes.. come take me. lol

yeah, the more i think about that.. clapton had woman tone, Nelson stumbled upon a woman amp. It was called Aleph.

RESO7NJC,
Aleph 3 Is the lowest powered and has the least amount of Class A current of all of the Alephs so its not going to push 4 ohm speakers [especially lower sensitivity ones] as well as an 8 ohm speaker. That's why ZM was saying to move up to a bigger Aleph. In addition, depending on where you set the AC current gain on your DIY Aleph you may have very little additional power into a 4 ohm speaker versus an 8 ohm.

When you only have 20 - 30 watts of Class A you probably want to stay with an 8 ohm speaker of > 90db sens.
