PCM versus DSD filter

To clarify: AKM has shown two filters in the datasheet of the AK4490. It is only to remove some out of band noise.

I would suggest choosing PCM filter and that is what Pinnocchio and MisterRogers has got.

PCM filter does not prevent you from playing DSD files in full Fidelity and vise versa.

But the PCM filter has less phase shift in the audible range.

For the preamp, the frontpanel is needed (124€)

And the preamp board is 90x140mm (DxW)

5 Channel input. First one is sent to a customer.

Second one we will assemble somewhere around monday.

All inputs and outputs are Diff or SE. Max gain is 12dB

It Can drive a pair of headphones directly if you want to.

The preamp board cost 389€

The phonostage will fit on top of the first Half of the preamp.

I will make drawings for an baseplate and frontpanel.

Then when all This is done i will top with an Linear supply for it.

Will it interconnect with your DAC and will LCD be able to manage DAC and Preamplifier at the same time or will it be two complete separate options? What type of volume control have you decided for it and how many steps?

It will control the preamp as well as the dac. You will connect the dac to one of the channels. It is fixed to ch0 In the software. I am using an r2r dac from TI DAC8812..

It is 16bit, and performs very well.

An discrete r2r dac will be more expensive. The r2r dac has constant impedances In and out. ( if we look away from parasitic capacitances)

Since this is a DAC, will you be using a CMOS switch network for the analog part or is it more like a PGA2310 or the likes? Sorry, I might be totally off here...
