Which driver, Exotic or Prestige?I have the SEAS 8 inch full range drivers in 2.8 cubic foot bar cabinets for the last 5 years in my listening room .
I could listen to them happily all day long .
The filter suggested by SEAS is installed in the cabinets and resistor coil values have been adjusted 3 times so far . They have 2 different circuits you can use .
Best 8" full range drivers
There are many 8" drivers available in the market but all of them do not perform well. We have reviewed some best full range 8" drivers. Here you can choose the one you like. We have listed some top and best speaker drivers here. If you wish you can visit and make a better choice.

My "favorite" 8-incher is the pair I saved up half-a-year for (eating lots of instant noodles), Supravox 215 variant. I call it "classic" not "vintage" as in 50s-60s Wharfedale etc. Last night I put one over a borrowed 14L box-frame on a desk pointing up, one meter from each wall in a corner, then cut/folded/inserted a cardboard transmission-line... music literally floated midair, spritely and nuanced, with decent bass considering the 5-minute paper compact TL/Onken. (My previous favorite was the Axiom 80 but that was left in the States.) The Supravox frequency response (judging by ear using Frequency Sound Generator APP finger-sweep) is gradual fall-off starting below 130hz, a dome ~260 and bump 900-1000, dip 1050-1150, then nearly flat to 12khz the hearing extent of my old-ears/low-sound-pressure. I think these "classic" full-range speakers have low-enough Qts to push soundwaves through TL or BLH (I'm highly allergic to BR). Tonight I plan to use the same box-frame to test a 50s "vintage" Lorentz 7x10 oval, that sounded amazing "OB" (also made of cardboard); playing a purist CRD recording of the Holberg Suite, the orchestra was physically spread out before and below me, albeit small 🙂
Hello, I own Lii silver 8, I tried them in several diferent enclosures, and OB, the best I could get was in Joan enclosure, I wasn't expecting them to be so good to be honnest as in several other enclosures they where really bad, more screaming than playing music...but in Joan, they are verry satisfying, verry sensitive, my 2A3 set amp is largelly enough to play them too loud for listening, sound stage is great, highs are detailled and cristal clear, bas is fast not too muddy, but that's after tuning the Joan's damping and an accurate room placement. Now if you want another league, I also own the Fertin lb8mk2, and that's a another level, bass is perhaps not reaching as low than on liis8 , but overal ballance is amazing, evey subtle details is there, never any listen fatigue, I can listen to them loud or low for hours, the puch is amazing, mid bass is solid and rapid, high's are fine and subtle, they are mounted in a custom design made by Dave and Scott for me, ask them for the plans if you are interrested,. In fact I own all the fertin's, the lb12 is just simply amazing but requires hugheenclosure and room to be expoited right, just after lb6 is my second best choice, goes deeper than lb8 and music precision is mind blowing, sound satge is also verry intriguing, sounds are surrounding me but remains so accurate when listening to a live concert, they can't play as loud as the lb8 of course, in fact the lb8 are the loudest of all, lb12 start to become verry unaccurate at higher levels, high's becomes messy and lows overwhelming, lb8 keeps the good ballance even played loud, they are ay fine on tube and ss amps, 2A3, 300B or old sansui's...Dave and Scott have custom designs for the 3 Fertin's, another design will be available later for the lb7 that is is still waiting gently in a box that I think might be the best of them all...And one day...(dedicated to Scott and Dave...this is a subliminal message...) they will all have a second custom design with front firing bh,...read somewhere that life is too short for boring hifi... Yves beautiful gallery and food for thought!
Continuing my experiment, the 7x10 "Golenz-Graetz" gold-face (brand actually unmarked, the alnico magnet is DEW) could not push a back load at all, its sound is so pure/elegant/transcient-rich but more bones than meat especially bass. On the other hand, the 6x10 sunbeam-lined Goodmans goes down effortlessly, even more so Onken'ed, and is quentissentially full-sounding throughout but lacks the Graetz's refinement. So I put them both in the same 14L box-frame, Graetz front and Goodmans back, in push-pull dipole, and voila best of both worlds! 100-10khz basically flat to my ears, then gradual fall-off high and low. "Reference" sounding. This is my first try at PP and I'm amazed. OB clarity (or better) with less backwave cancellation (verified by listening to sound-leak out the sides) and therefore more directional, axially-projected bass energy. In orther words, more efficient and less room reflection. As for looks and practicality, the 14L is a "vintage-radio-looking" walnut-stained simple frame with rounded edges, that almost perfectly borders the Graetz gold-face. Miminalist old-look elegance. (Well I bought a "platform" of eight at 100RMB~$16ea for my collection of 10" ovals and 8" rounds.) Next up, 6x10 3-way array in 130RMB~$18ea walnut-stained oak, slim & Loewe, that sounds so like a creme brulee crust....
