hey ace nice job on that powersuply housing can you tell me howmany amps that little guy puts out?
heya buddy hope your christmas went well, this little guy puts out 12v @2.4amps, its 30watts in total, that little psu we wer talking about on the net one time im thinking in getting to modd it in the same way, just a matter of fitting the ignightor in there, im sure its doable lol.

hej ace,
Just got back from my little christmasvacation and am delighted to see you have made some progress again 🙂
Also Im happy to hear that no soldering is really required. If my lcd wont work out, Ill try yours 🙄
Now Im waiting for the next step:
SHOW SOME RESULTS 😀
Keep up your current construction-speed (dont rush things), and things WILL work out just fine 😎

aww crap, spelled my nick wrong in registration...
Anyway, I'm inspired by your projector Ace, I was going to make a MKII enclosure like on diylabs.org, but I was going to use a lilliput lcd and this seemed easier (we'll see about that 😉)
I am a little concerned about some of the things you said with regards to the mirror. Like that one side will project larger because it's closer the the lcd. Is a mirror required? It seems like you could just project straight through the LCD and fresnel, except do you need the mirror to focus the image on to the lens?
Ace doesn't need to answer this, anybody could probably set me straight.
Thanks!

Hey Coockie,
The answer to your question is kind like this:
1. with mirror: you lose a LITTLE bit of your light-intensity (if using a good f.s. mirror) but by reflecting the mirror into the projection lens, you can make the projector a lot smaller actually...
2. without mirror (a bit easier) the lineair setup will just take more place (projector will be a bit longer)...
Mirror is no "need" at all...
Hope this was kind of helpfull to you as I'm a starter myself 😉

heya Coockie, the reason i use a front surface mirror in my projector is because to get the image the right way around when projected, also to where the controller pcb is going to go on this particular lcd, also for the form factor, all a mirror does is bend the light rays and in this case ive bent them at a 45deg angle so the lens can be at a right angle and be out of the front of the projector, in the way of saving space u dont realy, u just bend the light to utilise space in a different area, in this design ive managed to cut the focal distance by half to make the projector smaller and the other half of the focal now is utilised at the front, now for light loss, u dont loose much at all, infact u cant realy see any difference of light loss but however that will depend on the quality of your front surface mirrors coating, 94% and up reflectivity is the right stuff to use, anything lower we will soon start to loose too much light and will be noticable to the naked eye.

This will be a lot more helpfull though
Ace, you're just the best when it comes to explain things the 'easy' way...

ok for those who are interested in plans here is a sample from a lot of plans i drew on another projector, because ive compressed the image the reso is abit crap and has made the numbers hard to read. btw, dont even think u can build the projector out of this plan because this is just a face plate lol there is alot more to it then just this plan, this plan has also been copyrighted so those who want to copy see u in court lol. About the new plans that are starting to come into the works now, copy protection, as people will be paying for these plans and to keep things fair for the paying users, there will be a password for each set of plans sold, the passwords will be the buyers name and adresses so u cant forget your password and im sure those who want to decieve me, the paying honest buyers and the comunity, wont want to give their personal info out to others. As passwords are a pain to create and a pain to use all of the time just remeber u payed for your plans and why let others decieve u and get away with a free copy. The new plans will be similar to these plans, they are cad but not too technical to read, i understand that not all people can read cad plans so ive made them clear to read but also covering all of the technical measurments. In the plans for this new projector there will be any number from 16 - 40 plans, they will cover every nut and bolt, size and angle, also there will be a very large guide telling u how to fabricate the different materials into their form and shape and also a few tricks and hints to make things easier and to line up. There will also be a couple of plans to make up some angled templates to make sure u get your angles right for say the mirror and to check to see if your lcd is square. Most parts will be available through me, ie reflector condenser, filter, and maybe the mirror, ill be buying in bulk to keep prices down, and also parts will be available from other sources that will be mentioned, parts will be available from canada and spain, later from australia. There will also be plexi kits and pre fabricated parts who want to take the easy way out, there may also be completed units for sale but at this stage i dont have the time nor money to invest in machinery and too much stock. For those who want to buy a set of plans i reconmend to buy a copy lens now as they are running out of stock, once they are all sold they will not be replaced wich will call for a small design change to enable this projector to handle a diylabs triplet with a longer throw until i can find a replacment or decide to stay with the diylabs lens. So guys let me know what u think and tell me if u would like to see any changes in the plans and anything above. The price of the plans will be around the $45 mark.

awesome Ace - you da man...
Hope you've had a Merry Xmas....
I've been swamped of late - but I greatly anticipate your results. I'm ready to get mine on the road - so you can mark me down for your list of plans.
Since i've been so busy - I haven't had the opportunity to sketch up any logos - but I plan to sit down and do just that in the next couple of days. I'll email them to you - and if you feel so inclined to share on here - that's cool....
What was the name again? I had it wrote down on a piece of paper - but it must have gotten tossed when I was cleaning up the other day...
Thanks man - much appreciated....
Later - AC

heya buddy, i know the usa uses metric and europe uses imperial (from memory thats the right way round)so what ill do is make both lol, ill try to find an online converter so u have the inperal and metric standards, that way its the best for both worlds, im going to have a couple of diferent languages too, one will be in german for sure but not sure if there is a need for any others as of yet, so ill make a few different versions of the plans, all will be the same but languages and measurment standards just different.

btw i hope u had a great christmas.
measurments
actually usa uses Imperial Standard and eroupe uses metric (Imerial is inch, foot, yard, mile ect) and (metric is milimeter, centimeter, meter, kilometer ect) Your plans look like they are going to rock!!

ok guys cast your vote, you have a choice between the white background or the black, to me the black background is easier to read but its upto u guys to decide, the black is also harder to copy and its not too printer friendly unless u have shares in ink lol but this is just giving u guys a matter of choice and having it easy to read, so let me know what u think is best. Sorry about it looking crap but i can asure u that in full size its clear as a bell.

looks good
Black looks better because everything stands out better, that is why real blueprints are on dark blue paper with white ink. Black is the way to go. BTW how much of the plans do you have finished?

Gotta do the white...plans such as yours are meant to be printed. You could easily offer both in a single pdf though.
Yea we were supposed to switch to metric back in what the 1970's? man sometimes we are so dumb😡 🙄 tho I know metric cause of My major so its all good but still........make the switch😀
