ok.....
i got a pic to the screen.....half decent too.....
but there's rolling horizontal lines going up the screen....you can see the pic through the lines but it's distorted.....
any thoughts?
the lines are about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick
two video sources so far have been a karaoke machine and a vcr
the voltage is right but i'm not sure about the amperes......could the wrong amperes cause an off refresh rate on the screen?

Ok, no flash did the trick - So without the nightflash, but still on nite mode, pics came out even better. The colors are inherently too colory? and I have no way to adjust them at this point, but still pretty good. Here is a still of local access tv, the others will be added to the link I posted to the psx folder shortly

hmmm. Now i see the difference with other psone screens. The sony is a real TFT. My screen is a stn LCD. You can see clearly the difference in the following pics:

Doc may i ask what type of lamp you use? And how does you setup looks like? Doe you use fresnells?

Alchemist - look back to page 8 for a link to some pics and descriptions. I'm currently using a 360w ENX bulb on low setting. Can use 410 fxl on high for brighter picture, but it gets a little warm, and I'm satisfied with the brightness at this point, and bulbs will last longer.

Thanx! why i am asking this question is that i believe that i can enhance by brightness. I use three crapie foil fresnells and i believe that they are slurping a lot of light. I might want to use normal lenses instead.

well, things are progressing slowly......
nothing to report really.......got power and a signal to the screens but the amps are wrong so i'll need to get another power source to get a full screen of wonderful color.....
the color and pictures i am geting now (other than the scrolling interfearance).....are great....
i'll snap a few pics tonight of my current accomplishments and post them later....i'm going away for the weekend starting tomorrow so i'll be delayed on any major progress.............

Well the other day i split open an rca lead, soldered the red wire to the pin on the front right, then the wire with no insulation to the pin above (the GND). I assume what i did was right but i cant get a signal. The other thing i have found is that the mini jack lead is the same as a sony camcorder lead, you just need to change the gender on the video plug lead. If i can't solder it i might buy one of these for 4 pounds.

The thing is, i might buy the lilliput 7" next month but how much better will that be?

I was about to buy a dukane 4003 and put a psone lcd on it? How many lumens does your ohp have?
ps1 + dukane 4003 will give you a very watchable pic. before I built my projector, I tried the very same combo to see if it was worth it. In my humble opinion (IMHO) it was, so I went forward.

Yeah i think it was mostly my OHP giving the dim picture. I might do a 'retrofit' with this OHP and install a 250W MH kit. As far as pixellation goes I couldn't see any at 5' with a 50" projection so if i can brighten my ohp i might have something viewable.

want to check what bulb is used in the oho.
I have seen many 'retrieved' ohp's wich weird bulbs inside, some of them that should not have been in there at all.
eg I saw a dukane 410 with a 110 vol fxl type bulb, working but not half as bright as the original type bulb!

back to work today....still waiting for my power supply to come.....
used my sister-in-laws ps one power supply and all the screens worked perfect......
so i know it's just the wrong amperes (sp)
will get more pics and things when i can.......

Wow, i take back what i said about mine not being good enough! I decided to block out *all* light leakage, now it works a treat! I just watched terminator 2 and friends. The only problems I have are that the LCD is 5 inch, so projected its only 43", and also the contrast ratio is a bit low, and colors are too dark. it is definately watchable though. I have a choice now between a 250W double ended MH light kit to retrofit the OHP, or get a 7" lilliput. I am probably going to get the light kit so I don't need total darkness, and i dont fry my LCD, then get the lilliput in a few months. BTW Does anyone know how to lower the brightness on the Sony PSone screen?
Damn! I smelled burning and my ohp has burnt (well scorched anyway) the table it was on! looks like i'm buying the MH kit then, am I right in thinking that MH is a lot cooler than halogen? because its gonna need to be, also I might get one of those timer plugs incase I fall asleep during its use....

the brightness on mine is controled by two buttons on the controler card......it's a very basic control but it works......
In total the projector has cost me around 90 pounds, so thats about $170 i think. Too bad I cant use it till I get a new light kit 🙁 .

i'm still trying to decide what to use for my light source....
i have a lowes and a home depot not too far from the house where i can buy bulbs abd stuff......
any ideas as to what to pick up?
when at a lowes recently the only bulbs i found with 3000 lumens or more were 250 watts and higher.....i wanted to try to use an old computer case for my projector, the only fixtures i found there for a 250watt bulb and up were way too big to fit in a computer case......am i going to need to build an external light engine and attach it to the case?
