Yes, It will only show a picture when there is a signal.

On mine there are 4 connections total.

Looking at the input end of the jacks...The Black plug on top, green plug on bottom. There are 3 exposed leads on the right side, and 1 on the left.

The front 2 on the right are your video.

The last on the right, and one on the left are your audio.

Just bend those leads out a little and solder directly onto them.

i finally ordered a screen......well....5 of them to be exact......

got them from ebay and they are guaranteed not to work......

i believe i've read that the most common failure with the ps screens is the backlights.......

if that's the case with even one of these then i got a good deal (seeing as how i'm using a diffrent light engine anywho).......

all i need for these is to get an image on the screen.........

if any one of the 5 will do that then i'll be good to go........

i only paid $30 for all 5 including shipping..........

if i can get more than one to work with a video signal i'll pick the one i want and probably sell the other working ones.......

they should be here in a week or so.......

if anybody has heard of the backlights being a common problem let me know.........

or if anybody wants one of the others if i get them working.....let me know.........

here's hoping..........

The sony brand LCD works off of a 7 VDC adapter, it may be hard to find. If you look around you may find one. I don't know about the the other two you mention, but be carefull when you open it there is a coil of at the tip of the controller board that is the power supply for the backlight, it can shock you if you have the LCD on. Also don't bend the ribbon cable to the screen to much it will cause the screen to mess up. I found that out the hard way this will be the third Sony Lcd I have bought and I paid 129.99 for both of them.

I don't get it.

You've got 400 bux tied up in low res screens for your diy project?

Why?

Are you that fond of the PSone screen, or do you just have too much money?

I'll sell you my PSone screen for...... 200 bux. It's alittle more expensive... but I already disassembled and soldered the rca. Whattya say? 😉

I bought the first two 3 years ago and there was really no other place to get them cheaply not even on ebay and Computer LCDs were still really high. I just recently bought the third off ebay for $50.00.

I started the DIY Rear Projection Forum awhile back in 2003 and I used the Sony LCD in my projector. I was happy with the results but the LCD broke. I now have started back on my projector using the LCD.

WOOHOO!!!!!!!

my screens came today......

all 5 are original PS ONE screens and upon purchasing a universal multi volt adapter from radio shack i plugged each one in....

each screen flickered horizontal lines from top to bottom.......indicating power was reaching the screens.......
can anyone tell me if this is what these screens do when power is sent with no video signal......

i need somebody to post a detailed guide to the rca/composite mod.......i'm going to try that one first and then the vga perhaps.....

doc, did you say you used the vga mod? or is your pic from an rca adaptation?......

i already have one opened and ready for work......as soon as the answers come rolling in i'll start modding and take pics along the way for any others who wish to know......

anybody....please respond ASAP

i've waited what seems like forever and i need to know if i have working screens and how to get a basic signal to them.....

Everything you need is in the thread already.

Plenty of pictures and descriptions.

Don't wait for everyone to rehash all the info... get to work! 😉
