Is it easy possible to convert a US 115V Threshold NS-10 preamp to an European 230V version? Or should I use a stepdown?
Can buy one maybe to drive my Stasis 3 amplifier.
How about the blue modules inside. Are the just as cumbersome as the potted Levinson ones, like the JC-2, ML-1, LNP-2 or easier to service because maybe the aren't potted?

xformer - myriad of solutions - replace existing one with small Donut
remove existing one, put biiiiiiig Donut in separate case (some pple like that way; Mighty Moi using shunt regs, so overkill with xformer is irrelevant)

The xformer now is indeed mighty tiny but was sufficient in the late seventies.

you can find 10-20W Donuts everywhere with 24Vac secondary ....... and there is plenty of pcb area to find proper spot to drill 4mm hole
avoid so called print xformers - they're scary bad - regulation factor is awful and they're heating as hell, with or without load

Nelson knew there was something to say for using Standard Parts.
That Signal DPC-24-450 was as popular as bell-bottoms in the 1970s. The dang thing is still available. Also its specs and connections.

Yes, get the dual primary Signal transformer, they are excellent.
Unless that's already what is in there. Check and see, maybe you
only need to change some jumpers, it wouldn't be surprising.

In the 70's, they (Signal Transformer) were at 1 Junius Street in NYC - Brooklyn, maybe? They were the go-to XFMR supplier for budding amp builders in my dorm at MIT. The transformers were immediately recognizable due to the black impregnating varnish used.
I think these days they are out on Long Island, and I suspect a lot of the winding is done elsewhere.

What a good load of information about the Xformer used in the Threshold first pre-amplifier. I now use in my two audio setups four Threshold devices (FET 11/G basically a (G)erman version of the FET 10 HL, a Stasis 3 and two mono-configured S/500's - thanks to Zenmod the fastest, most funny and brilliant PassLab contributor IMO - and the all operate flawlessly after more than 30 years of service. I only replaced all the blue Mallory and grey Mepco filtercaps as a precaution. I'm very pleased with this forum because you all know so much more than I do about the technical side of this beautiful products.

I offered him 105 USD above his asking price because the first time when I offered 250 under he immediately declined and said he would not ship International...
He states that:

- Shipping in the continental US is included at the asking price. So the 105 USD for shipping outside the US is fair it looks to me.

If you know someone in the USA, have them buy it for you and then ship it to you.

Well the US shipping is paid according to the seller when 995 USD is paid.
I offerered him 1100 USD so it 's the paid Continental shipping fee plus extra expenses plus I pay the asking price.
Shipping from MD 21742 United States with US Postal services with insurance is $159.30. so that should cover all his cost.
I'll pay another 30% VAT and customs and administration cost...
