Wima calls their KP parts as FKP, so yes, Wima FKP it is.I think mbrennwa did very specifically mean KP but cannot find anything like that. Let's wait for him to answer.
FKP 2,3,4 ? Which one are you using? Honestly, I tried some xKP is the past, not sure if MKP or FKP, and thought they were not special in the signal way. As low pass filter or decoupling of power line, I use them as well though. Nevertheless, I know it is always a matter of complete audio chain, listening room, music and personal preference. Even may be age (like me, with cut off at 10kHz 🙄 )
That's exactly the point. They are just no-nonsense caps that don't add anything special.I tried some xKP is the past, not sure if MKP or FKP, and thought they were not special in the signal way.
imho the worst thing in this circuit is R4=20E = 0,6 nV/sqrt Hz. Too big for MC with 3E coil.
1) bypass R4 that with 100uF
2) what's the difference between 220pV/rtHz and 600pV/rtHz when the vinyl surface noise is taken into account?
@ Nick Sukhov - "worst thing" might be somewhat exaggerated - but in principle you are correct. On the other hand, you need some biasing for the FET. I decide to NOT bypass it as the capacitor will be in the signal way. I took the "worst" option of a bit more noise this way using a Linn Kandid allowing for 50 Ohm in source with still SNratio > 70dB
@ jackinnj thanks for reply, but i think you mean 1000uF. With 100uF you will have low freq. cut off of 80 Hz. indeed, vinyl noise is way higher.

Well I have very little to contribute on this high level exchange of simulations and specs but I did listen to them.
Together with my audio friend Eef we compared the mc-pre of Doede with the Audio Technica AT650 trafo.
Of course a very subjective judgment but we found strong improvement of the bass and more realistic
and clearer rendering of voices. In fact I waited to write this comment to be sure I could still order
two more of these boards.

Thanks for the testimony Leo. It alignes with my experience. The level of realism and rendering (nice way to express) is indeed very good. I am pretty satisfied with it.
the two boards are on its way to you - should have them mid next week latest…
whenever you are ready to try battery supply versus “normal” linear supply, would be happy to hear some feedback as well.
