As you can see from the pictures I have no capacitor inversion or short circuit track.
The two capacitors of the power supply of the spdif receiver (C6 and C7) are practically in short circuit (resistance of a few ohms between + and -)
As this circuit only supplies the SPDIF receiver, I see only the solution of the defect of the WM 8804.
Does anyone see another possibility?😕😕

The main board is very nicely done so no component mis aligned. Have you tried some new capacitors, one could be shorting internally.
Of course bad news something is wrong. The conclusion that the chip is defective is a bit fast. many other things can have gone wrong. But if you are not experienced DIY in electronics, this can be tricky. Best way to work is on exclusion. So de-solder a few things and check if the short is still there. that way you can come quickly to Conclusiones. If you get stuck feel free to send the board to me for a quick check.

At first I will desolder C6 and C7 and check that they are not shorting internally. If not , I'm going to opt for Doede's nice proposal.

I have de soldered this morning C6 and C7 . They are not shorting internally ???

I have built a Dac board tester using a spare main board.
I used some very nice spring loaded PCB contacts made by Millmax.
I power the main board with a Lab power supply, so I only need to bolt the Dac board to my tester bringing the voltage up slowly before doing voltage tests, set the 40MV current source, and have a quick listen to make sure all is OK.
I need to know all my Dac boards are working properly because I am going for a 16 stack Tent powered board.

With Doede assistance the higher frequency distortion issue I had is now fixed 🙂
The Sowters deliver 4 times greater output and the higher harmonics were distorting at times due to this in my system. I use single ended RCA outputs and the fix was to use the center tap of the Sowter output to the "cold" or "ground" of the RCA connector which reduced the 4 times output to 2 times.
Glad to hear you fixed it Simon. My Sowters arrive next week - be interesting to hear how they differ from my Cinemags.
Samplerate > 96000 not working anymore with WaveIO
I am very happy running my 2 stack DDDAC using WaveIO and USB. Suddenly for unknown reason, WaveIO does not accept higher samplerates anymore than 96000. I usually upsample all my music to 192000/24 using WASAPI event driver in foobar. My computer is a plain vanilla Windows 10 64bit using the latest driver from luckit.biz version 3.34.
I tried the usual fixes like reinstalling the driver or using different USB ports.
Has anybody an idea what happened and hjow to fix it?

OK, after reinstalling the driver multiple times and trying different USB-ports, I finally found one port that correctly showed all sample rates and is working. That really is weired...

However I spent most of last year in hospital in an isolation room and I did most of the work to my DAC in my room, yes thats right, I brought most of my tools, heat gun and soldering station and was beavering away to help pass the weeks and months (thanks to Enrico for your help), but when I was in hospital I did make some ordering mistakes and this is where I need your help please.
The help I need is in regards to the different boards I am wanting to link together and to know if this is possible.
Board three and four are exactly the same.


However board two has Belleson shunts and not shunt regulators.

And you can see that board one has Tent Shunt regs on the analogue side and not the digital.

So the main question is can I use these boards as they are?

They should work fine together. Assume they are function blocks that require unregulated power supply and I2S at the input with current out at their output. I presume you can test individual decks first to ensure their output is within the same DC range, once loaded with resistors.

Regarding you boards what extreme_boki suggest you is correct, you should test the boards one by one before soldering the 4 boards together... the only diubt I have is regarding the board 1: you removed all the caps as is the correct conf for the shunt regulators but you are still using the original regulator from Doede. I would suggest to reinstall the caps as per Doede design. My it's just a suggestion, I never tried before...
