a little elliptical reflector theory

Hello everybody,

How does your projects go? I didn't have a lot of time, working on experimental reflectors, taking apart triplets and solve heat problems.. But, these are the experiences I get from the alluminium reflector:

- the focal lenghth of the first triplet has to be large. As we want to keep the reflector small (diameter 100mm), the angle of the light conus isn't wide. --> If you don't place the reflector too close to the first fresnel (a I did), it is possible to capture allmost all the light coming from the reflector/lamp in the triplet with a diameter of +/- 100mm. --> attached image

Unfortunately, I don't have such a huge triplet (it's a normal one, taken from a normal ohp) neither a long distance fresnel (that's why I had to put the reflector so close to the fresnel: It had an extremely short focal distance)

Now I'm trying something, found on a german forum: a goliath reflector (or goli), it's spherical. But, you lose a lot of light.. When I get new fresnels with normal (read longer) focal distance, I'll try to work with the ellipsoid reflector again.

About the reflector on the spanish forum, he made it in resin, I tried it too, but it melts by the heat.. 🙁 But maybe, the guy has a wonder-resin that can stand the heat.
There is some objection against the idea: the lcd diffuses slightly the light (that's why the second fresnel has to be placed nearby the lcd) So, will it focus all the light in the triplet? Or will it be diffused too much.. ? (I don't know, this was be written on the forum, don't remember if it was the spanish one)
But if it works, waw! >Then this would be great, I just don't think anybody has finished such project, you could be the first! If you beat the spanish inventer with the wonder resin 😛 And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I guess they use such big reflectors in cinema, the light concentrated at the second focal point passes the film and passes trough the lens, I don't know what about digital cinema..

Waiting for fresnels, I keep reading your genius ideas ! 🙂

Regards

with adequate ventilation.
temperature can be corrected.
the reflector is fiberglass.
but is very large
this helps prevent overheating
Yesterday I did the first tests
After pasting paper mirror, inside the reflector

soon I will make the assembly
Hence only know if this works.
the difference in this project
reflector that is tailor-made
to have the same focal length lens that
In my case the lens triplets is 320 mm

thanks
