I'll keep an eye out for a pair Wavebourn but I was hoping to avoid tube addiction if at all possible! 😀
Is the 5964 pin-compatible with the 5687?

No, it is different. It is 7-pin tube, double triode, with huge area common cathode. I use it with both triodes paralleled. It can work on very low voltages.
I know one more tube that is nice on low voltages, it is 6J5.

OK, I will look out for them. Do you have a specific circuit for either of them?
Experiment, and thou shall be happy.

It should be around 1 mA with 10V plate to cathode and 0V screen grid bias.

I've built the 5687 pre, and have been running it off a 12v battery between a Virtue Piano CDP and a Virtue Sensation amp. The Piano has quite a high output and I needed to attenuate it to avoid distortion.
But the results are very encouraging, clearly bettering a commercial tube pre-amplifier kit! 🙂

Hi guys
Just a tube noob here, what is the final schematic for 5687, I'm just a little lost.
Also what are the resistor wattages.
I like the idea of low voltage and the cost should be cheaper compared to the other only tube project I have done.
Any information on anything tubes ect... will be greatly appreciated......

Use a bunch of diodes and 220uf 50v caps to make 50 plus volts from 12v ac
You could also use a 5va torroid to get 130v B+
