45 type SET build need assist

Not Sony, Akai was a Japanese brand that made quite nice real to real machines in the 60s and 70s. A lot of people tear apart the M8 and make guitar amps out of the individual amplifier modules. The output transformer you have in your amp is from one of these reel to reel tape machines, as well as the power transformer marked Orion. Made the transformers for Akai

Mine have EL84s. Need a strip-down and rebuild.

Sony made an all-in-one tape recorder, the 2 speakers latched onto the tape deck for storage, looked like luggage on its way to the plane.
The unit had pretty good sound.

Then there was the KLH record player, the 2 speakers latched onto the record player.
That unit sounded pretty good.

If you did not have a real component Hi Fi Stereo, the above units allowed you to "Enjoy the Music" (credit the audio reviewer who said that).

Very cool. I thought the OT might have been from a Sony TC 500. Thanks for the information!
