In your case, 12V @ 0.5A, an ideal voltage drop is 3V and you may go as high as 8V. This is limited by LT3042 input to 20Vdc.

Will work, but I see no reason to add a capacitor after Saligny. In other words to make a CLC.
BTW you will get lower ripple after Saligny compared with a normal bridge. ;-)

What about LC such as the arrangement show on in "Fig 2. Modern choke input." ... although won't be high voltage nor for a tube amp as the intent of the circuit shown:

However, I suggest you to add a small capacitor after Saligny. In fact by adding this capacitor, you may trim the LC filter output voltage better.
