I bought some J74BL from eBay and they measured Idss 11 to 20 ma.
What happens if I use them in a circuit designed for a real J74? Will they work? What are they really?

The only feature, that distinguishes the genuine parts and the other is the higher resolution font. No logo isn't to find on both (also by pics from post #25) This means for me, without exact analysing of the parameters it is impossible to make a statement about the quality, reliability and long-term stability.
Or is there a feature by genuine parts as a clear visual distinction, that I have overlooked?

I don't know, I have some real parts (170 and 74) and looks similar, I have some originals with a differences between series.
This is some of my genuine 170 and 74
But this is a genuine part as well (170GR)
I just traded messages with the seller and bought a batch. He assured me they are the real deal, I'll know when I get a chance to test them. I'll probably buy more and match them up for the forum guys.
think they are $0.50 each, you get 200 of each for $200, more have been listed.
He just doubled the price after I bought the first batch for $199. I think he went a little overboard. You might be able to negotiate with him.

That's meaningless, they made them for years and they can look very different from batch to batch. The proof is in the pudding, I'll let you know.
If they're not, posting pictures of box and bumper sticker along with the sale ad would make it as big a scam can get.
