Does it not bother you at all that the amp might have sounded better with correctly matched devices?
not one bit
Im happy if it sounds good 🙂
If not, why buy matched devices at all🙂
like I said, it helps to ensure they are genuine 😉
besides, apart from a standard F5, I also plan to use them in multiples for a classAB, and the matching is needed 😉
Matching FETs
I don't have much experience matching MOSFETs but I do with small signal JFETs used in mikes ... the 2n54xx & u3xx range
You certainly see this in the datasheets. If Idss is matched, it is likely that Yfs in the sensible current range is matched and so will Voff

Anyone have a pointer to EKV models for these MOSFETs?
Within a FET family and probably within a type of construction, it appears that Idss, Yfs & Voff are well correlated.... use Idss matched K170/J74 even if Papa clearly says that they have to be Yfs matched.

please, lets not confuse the poor man more than 'need be'
Poor man? Thanks for that one!
Of course n - p matching makes a difference, even if its not necessary. I dont HAVE to build the f5 either, even though it feels like it right now. 🙂
But no one knows where to find these as only two unmatched pairs? Seems like blues also have matching quads.
