I'm not sure if it's well connected, if is well connected I prefer the carbon pot or better the attenuator with resistors.
How are you connecting the TVC Merlin? Before the 26 (on the grid) or after the 26 (after the cap or OPT, whatever you have)? What are you loading its primarys and secondarys with?
As many has said Before. A FULL scetch would help us help you. Otherwise we dont know if you have missed a grid leak or whatever it can be. A full scetch with the TVC.

Of course not. You still havent published a full schematic with the selector and TWC.
i recently got turned on to Rod Coleman`s regulator thread & earlier i got the Ronan reg. boards to use w/ 26 linestage (VT-52 Jim deKort`s design) & now i wanted to know how i`d go about acquiring Coleman`s heater bords? thanks.
My mistake was not to connect pin -3 TVC to input RCA, now is sounding beautiful, a lot better than with a carbon pot or a resistor attenuator thanks Thomas🙂
