2007 Maxon Motor Group Buy

does anyone happen to have a drawing file that shows how the front panel should be layed out? I'm interested in distances between the parts and proper hole diameters, and what not. I suppose I could measure them myself, but I was wondering if anyone had a layout that I could print out and then use as a drill guide.

Thanks!

hi all,received my kit today.

thought I had ordered a mounting kit for the motor. I should have looked closer at the group buy. The housing is simply way too big for my intended purpose. Guess I'll get a custom one made (physically smaller).

The quality is quite excellent Thanks Algar_emi.

As i am working on a platter/brg GB, I am beginning to see some of the efforts that are really required to make this work. Again, your efforts are appreciated.

I had given a turntable to another here on diyAudio. As soon as he gives me something for it (not a condition of me giving it to him), then I'll paypal you a few extra $$$ for the efforts of you and your wife🙂

I've looked at your webpage and must say you have some very nice projects and equipment.

Hey Nanook
did you mean motor housing or controller housing ?.If you meant motor pod I'd be interested as I was stupid enough (aaa and broke too )and had not ordered one and now I suffer with my all in one (motor, controller , battery ) solution .
Regards, L

P.s Yes we all should paypal to Algar some funds as we've got everything pretty much for a cost of motor ++ if bought separately .

Hi Nanook. I guest you're starting to realized the amount of work that a GB imply 😎

Always glag to receive some donation for my work

I can even bring my wife to a nice restaurant for a change, usually too busy to do so 🙂

I guest I made her happy last saturday. There was the biggest snow storm I ever seen here in Montreal. We went to see some of her friend and drive a short distance and took the subway. When we managed to get back to our car, it was jammed pack with snow, no taxi was available and the city was completly paralyzed. We had to walk from 1:00AM to 4:00AM to get back home, a 3 hours walk in a huge snowstorm :hot: .There was 1 ft of snow minimum everywhere! Our own street had 2-3 ft of snow in it. I hope she was happy with the party

Hi Toaster. I double checked my files, and your package was shipped 10-Jan-2008. I can send you a picture of the shipping bill but that's it.
However, it was shipped surface, so there is no tracking number. Such a number is issued only for Air shipping.

Surface shipping may be as long as 2-3 months in the worst case. So more than 9 weeks is possible.

Let wait and see. Sorry.

Algar....

one night after consuming WAAAAYYYYYYyyyy to many refreshments I decided to walk home. Guess what? It was -40C, and snowing and I was ill equipped...

and walking through a river valley to the other side of town, on a non-traveled piece of real estate. I recall falling once, but somehow got back up and carried on. I have never walked in a blizzard or very cold weather since. Once was enough to scare me ...

Algar, if I may...

I'm still considering making wooden pods. I have some questions and would appreciate those with the answers to share.

What height is the pod? or What height is the pod you use?

What type of support do you (is) favored? Spikes or soft?

For a 3-point support, would there be any advantage to 2 feet being further from center of the pod, and those 2 feet be positioned towards the platter?

Is damping with lead or steel shot a good thing? I'm considering a separate chamber below the motor for it.

What type of lead wires do you use? twisted pair? sheathed?

Thanks in advance for your input. Please include your concerns for other items I did not include. Photos are welcome.

Picked up my box of stuff today from the local Post Office depot after finding a card on the mat yesterday. Haven't checked it all yet, but the boards certainly look good. I expect to be warming up the soldering iron this week and getting them both built. Thanks Algar!

All the best,
Toaster.
