That is just because you misused the drivers outside of they're limits.I've blown drivers in a sealed enclosure.
I've NEVER blown a driver in a BP4 enclosure due to the basket being in the vented chamber.
Nothing wrong with sealed either just as with ported, your design was poorly executed for the amount of power used.
For the same output you need significantly higher excursion.
Also more heat retention in a sealed box.
No misuse.
It was the heat retention.
Like said before, I never blown a driver in a bandpass enclosure (BP6S or BP4).

I prefer ported over sealed I cant help it... it was the early 90's we had sexspec SQ showcars that had big ported boxes with a low tuning frequency with some strong MB Quart midbass plus dash mounted horns up front was always my favorite all that swoopy fiberglass and LED screens everywhere...
They only needed a couple hundred watts for the whole system to get loud, I think sometimes less is more kind of thing... even if its impractical 🤔

With 2 sealed i will gain more midbass, but can i rescue the rumble? I dont want to go 2 ported because then i loose the sq, plus needs a bigger box.
- Power handling specs are useless blather says this loudspeaker engineer who has also spent time as a paid liar, er Marketing employee. Generally, the power limitations will be physical although you'd have to simulate to be certain.
- As was noted a port uses resonance to increase output around the port tuning, the downside being that below that the cone unloads. Plus it's a RESONANCE so can sound bad-but to total effect depends very much on the tuning and the resulting shape of the response curve. "Undertuning" the port can yield some gain in output over sealed, but with a slower rolloff than ported, implying better time response and hence less boom. So there is a tradeoff between output and sound quality, yes. Bandpass enclosures have even more resonance and hence really strong sound which is generally then boomier and muddier sounding.
- But maybe you LIKE the boom? If that's what you need by "rumble."
- More non-boomy output is pretty much going to require more total system box volume, whether sealed(s) or ported(s).
