Box all together
From right
Smoothed out sides
A crap corner 🙁
All treated with 2 coats of mdf primer
Spent a whole load on electronics for the remote business etc etc
LCD mounted inside its metal frame
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Its not dvi, its a control port for controlling the lcd functions and turning the projector on remotley
Another update, been going slow recently due to me being lazy and it being so hot in the UK :|
Light box in place 😀
Mini heat sheilds and to stop excess light
LCD and rear fresnel in place, as you can see the lcd is leaning due to the mounts being in the middle
The lcd mount now has a threaded rod on each corner next to the 92mm fans
Some glue holding the bolts to the wood 😛
Very pro

Test shot using a plastic bag lol corners all got cut off so...
I fixed that problem
The board hanging
LCD etc in place
BTW this is just a test
Pixels
Big preview
And google
Now to get it all boxed up etc as the side panels are off at the moment, apart from the one where i was sitting/taking pictures so there is a lot of excess light on the screen

lookin good so far, nice boots lol!
but regarding the heat: All you UKers are a bunch of pussies lol, I don't even think you could handle winter here 😛
how hot was it? like 25 degrees or something?

Ok since taking these pictures I have improved the light spread and its not actually that green?? it looked white think the bulb was still warming up in this shot
And its pretty much perfectly focused, i will get it perfect when its celing mounted
Explorer
WMP
Will try get some decent shots soon as these are washed out
Dark shots are ok, but i would like them a tiny bit brighter hmm
Supose I need to sort the light box distance to get it

I have more results to post but due to the mess at the moment, i cant get to the usb lead so its will have to wait.
Keystone correction 🙂
Note the knobs on the back
Each one (ignore the middle ones) turns the corner of the frame, so when you turn say the two bottom ones thats correcting the top of the image.
It works but its not great

Hey nick im also doing a 15" diy. This is my first project and you konw when the corners wouldn't focus? How did you fix it. I have a lens triplet and the fresnels from the lumenlab store. I also wanted to ask where you got the condenser and how much was it?
Condenser came from someone on this froum when i brought it all from him.
I havent managed to fix the corners yet, but there readable, just not as focused as they should be

Hey nick, you can try this page out. http://www.compumodules.com/image-processing/focal-length-calculator.shtml. Scroll down to the "Lens Focal Length CALCULATOR" and for paramter 1, enter the distance of your condenser from the lamp arc, parameter 2 enter the lamp arc i believe, and for paramter 3 enter the size diagonally of either the condenser fresnel or the lcd, which ever the light hits first. Thanks!!!
It's alright, i found a nice PCX lens from www.anchoroptics.com (search for item AX94127) 89mm diameter with 305mm FL. Fast shipping and not bad at all for 20 bucks w/shipping/tax 🙂...had it in 2 days
unfocused corners
That is a very impressive projector. This is also one of the best threads on step by step projector assembly. Congratulations on both!
I am not clear on whether you mounted your LCD in between the fresnels or not. If it is mounted either in front or behind the fresnels (i.e. not between them) is it possible that this is responsible for the unfocused corners? I do not know from experience although it makes sense to me that the light has to travel at the most extreme angles to the LCD at the corners thereby resulting in poor image quality. This is just a thought and if anyone knows otherwise please correct me.

Thanks all 🙂
Well I havent done much on it recently.
My condenser has cracked somehow? but picture quality is not affected at all
Padded tape? do you mean the bit that holds the lcd in? (as thats door insulation
with extra glue)
The lcd is placed inbetween the two fresnels. as for corner to corner focus, i seem to have it almost sorted just the lcd psu is in the way now so I am limited on the top and right hand side focusing, will sort it soon....just like everything else.
I will try get some more pictures up soon. I wanted to get it mounted on the celing today but dont know if that will get done.
