X, some years ago I rebuilt my L-220 crossovers and used foil inductors. I noticed there is a difference in the resistance on the BOM list versus a similar 4mH foil inductor. Would this make any or no difference in the crossover performance?
Thanks
David

I just re-ran the Xsim calculation of the frequency response with a 14ga flat copper foil 4mH Jantzen inductor with 0.6ohm DCR vs the 1.26ohm DCR of the 18ga wire inductor and see a mild improvement in the bass response - maybe 0.5dB at 50hz. It doesn't hurt. Otherwise, the phase and frequency response elsewhere comes out the same. Subjectively, I would imagine a lower DCR will make the woofer sound more immediate and direct.

You are welcome. I must say I am a bit intrigued by all this talk of upgraded XO parts.
Maybe a new bypass cap and a flat copper foil inductor will send the sound over the top? I might have to try when I get the new XO PCBs in.

Just a pass along. Polk has a sale on the subwoofer you recommend X. Free shipping in the US, plus sales tax. PSW 10 - Polk Audio
Thanks, that’s a great price for that sub. I use it with my 10F/RS225 FAST and it sounds great. Integrates seamlessly. I highly recommend it for anyone who has this speaker.
Although the TL build should reach 30Hz easily. A sub always adds more depth and presence.

I ordered the PCBs so should be here by the end of the week. The 10F/RS225 TL speaker experiment by Vunce worked out superbly. I think the design is a keeper and worth making out of wood if you want a speaker that reaches deep but with articulate bass.

I just got word that the PCBs have been shipped from the manufacturing house. So should be here in 3-4 days now. Although I will be away at a conference in Boston from Sunday through Wednesday so probably won't be able to ship out until next Friday.
I got a txt message from DHL saying the boards have been delivered. I will get back from travel late tomorrow and will ship them out probably on Friday.
Vunce,
Can you hear any difference between the caps?

Very easy to build and everything fits perfectly! JPS64 did a fantastic layout here. There are thousands of vias connecting both sides of the board for essentially 4oz thick copper traces for super low impedance paths. It's a beautiful looking XO.
