My baltic birch order isn’t going to be in until 11/26…….wife comes home 11/29! 😳
$130 per sheet for 5’x5’ 3/4” ……..gonna have to look at alternatives.
Maybe some marine grade AB fir would do……..its a little softer wood but no voids, good glue, can get that in stock locally for $100 a sheet?

Yah its 18mm, I just call it 3/4……failure to comply has always been an issue of mine 😉
I don’t think American plywood come in 5x5

Right, the goal is no-void, with marine grade my only easy access/'reasonable' pricing option during my active build years.
Sadly, have known of some folks (long ago now) sawing local non void free 4x8 to 5x5 to sell as premium 'imported'.Yah its 18mm, I just call it 3/4……failure to comply has always been an issue of mine 😉

I‘d like to see how they did that convincingly! That would involve a joint.
maybe a finger joint would work, but it’d still be visible

They veneered them furniture grade one side and had to admit that their joinery was top notch, though still visible if one was paying attention, but the typical woodworking DIYers doing speakers, end tables, etc., in my locale in the late '60s, early '70s were HS, college age, but with no 'shop' courses; these didn't come along until my daughter's HS time.
Wow, I reckon back then our plywood was super cheap and the imported BB astronomical, making it worth the effort…….deceptive but quite creative!
Particularly so since we had Ga-Pacific literally at our backdoor(s) with some that still do (next to RR tracks), though my locale is so built up now that its moved from the tracks to the store via truck. 😉
