10-12” midwoofer for 2-way with SEOS-10/12 that goes to 35Hz

Hello,

So I’m basically looking for what the title says. I want to build a 2-way with a SEOS-10 or 12 crossed at 1,000-1,500Hz. I need a 10-12” woofer that’s able to play from 30-40Hz to around that XO either ported or sealed in less than 85L (3 cu ft) and cost <$300.

Here are some suggestions I found myself. Not sure if all of them matches my criteria:

  • 18Sound 12NLW9300
  • Aurum Cantus AC250
  • Beyma 10BR60 V2
  • Beyma 12BR70
  • BMS 12S305
  • Dayton Audio DS315-8
  • ETON 11-612C8/50RP
  • Faital Pro 10RS350
  • Faital Pro 12RS1066
  • Peerless SLS-P830669
  • SB Acoustics SATORI WO24P
  • SB Acoustics SB34NRXL75
  • Seas H1316-08 CA26RE4X
  • Seas H1411-08 A26RE4
  • Visaton TIW 250 XS
  • Visaton TIW 300
  • Volt BM2500.4
Any recommendations or suggestions?

Thanks,
Søren

Dayton DS315*8 12" Designer Series paper cone Woofer Speaker 8 Ohm
-F3= 38Hz 2.2cuft volume
4" dia 13.3" long port

If the speakers are close to the walls, a bass-shelf alignment can extend the deep bass.

I guess a lot of the above mentioned woofers are able to reach low, but I think that far from all will play to 1,000-1,500Hz without going into breakup and/or distortion. Anyone got experience with any of woofers that can help me boil down the list?

From personal experience:
- Beyma 12BR70 : not (very) usable above 450 or so, severe resonances; I was hoping it would work as you are describing but no. Usable in 3 way, good extension;
- Eton 11-581 (very similar to 11-612): has severe peak at around 1.8/2K (as shown in the factory graph, the graph matches actual measurements - unlike Beyma). It might work, but it will be really pushing it, requiring some elaborate notch suppression(s);
- Volt BM2500 (worked with more than 15 years ago, presume the current model acts similarly): this one is very good, intended for 2 way. It was used with Morel MDT33 at about 1K7 or so, and worked well into midrange. This is from memory, don't have any measurements to prove. Built like a tank!

huh.

delta lite 10" ii looks real good.

I've been focused on the eminence delta pro 12a due to smooth increase (break up) compared to peaky blinders like the usual fare.

But the 12a's .35 qts and 51hz fs, ideal ported (small though) is F3 of 57hz (55hz tuning) in a small 2.13ft3 box.
Still a bit deeper than my 2206 that has F9 at Fs 52hz (qts .32).

I'd always wanted to hear a diyaudio tempest (fusion 12), for the woofer (12a).

Beyma 12mwnd in simulator goes down to 30Hz in a 100l box with bass reflex tuned to 35Hz.
I'm waiting for speaker parts and hope reality will match theory.
Currently, it plays in OB. Crossed with a 12" RCF HF950 horn at 700Hz. It sounds quite precise:

Interesting driver! However, it seem to be no longer available :( It's not part of the portfolio on their website, and can't find European webshops that have it in stock.
