Sound of W4-2142 in Tabaq (lots of stuffing) is way better than sealed and I would like to have flat impedance (no resonance spike).
the resonant spike is at 60Hz. Way lower than your 300+Hz crossing point.
So, I wonder what the TABAQ can bring you here.
Don't get me wrong... I love the TABAQ (that's an understatement!) but since you are crossing above 300Hz, your W4 is basically a mid, or WAW design. It doesn't need the TL for the extended range nor the taming of the impedance peaks. Put it into X's tapered cone like his WAW design and have fun coming up a design for the woofer!

60 Hz is driver Fs. My simulator tells me impedance spike is at about 140 Hz in CB, in combination with low order crossover this is not ideal and therefore I want to reduce it.
Using the 51 Hz TABAQ, HR 'says' that fully stuffed it will shift the peaking down to ~15.8 ohms/107 Hz with a ~187 Hz F -3dB.
Hi there 🙂
Im on my way to build TABAQ TL with Faital Pro 4fe32, 8 Ohm.
I have read and downloaded the original building plan from first post (TABAQ Build Quick Reference Index) in this thread that gives that this 4" will perform well in the Tabaq original.
So Im basically done with my preparations for my build. But before I start the saw......
Is there any new update of design that would make the 4fe32 to sing even better?
For example
There is a larger volume update for Tang Band 4".

hkara1 made his Fireside TB 4" with the updated larger volume for 4" .
Or is the answer still, 4fe32=Original Plan?
Thanks in advance and many thanks to all of you who have made this TABAQ thread so interesting. Thanks Björn!

For 4” Drivers:
• Use the original plans (with Port Length / Vent = 13cm)

Just plugged the 4fe32 into my TABAQ template.
Using the original plan, you get a quick rise and spike at 50Hz, then a little valley from 50Hz to 100Hz of -3dBs.
Now, your room might fill that. If not, then I suggest shortening the vent to 5.5~6.0cm long. You will lose a few dBs of reach, now at 57Hz, but the dip is almost non existent.
Again, it might not even matter, especially since most rooms have some bass gain around 50~80Hz.
So, that -3dBs will probably be filled by room gain.
Now, if your room has a node that makes that -3dBs worse at the listening position, then it will result in one note bass. You definitely do not want that. You'll need to play with speakers placement and listening position window.
Good choice on the TABAQ! 🙂

You mention a TABAQ template, is that MJ Kings worksheets or something else? Could you publish them for all to use?
Thanks for input perceval. Then I will stick with the Original but make the bottom plate removable if future adjustment of vent is necassary.
Hello!
I wonder if anyone have used SB12PFCR25-4 in a Tabaq?
I like the sound from that driver.

A quick search shows no mention of this driver on this thread yet. It does look like a nice driver with a serious X-max. I'm no expert here but the FR curve looks a bit concerning - it drops like a brick after 10k Hz.I wonder if anyone have used SB12PFCR25-4 in a Tabaq?
Have you heard this driver as a full range driver, and in what enclosure?
Edit: Sorry, looks like I confused this one with another driver on Madisound's website. This is a coax driver. Interesting. Hang on - there are two drivers labelled SB12PFCR25-4, and one is a coax driver. Which one did you refer to @LeifB60 ?

I just input the numbers of the TABAQ into HornResp and saved. You mention a TABAQ template, is that MJ Kings worksheets or something else? Could you publish them for all to use?
Now, I only need to change the driver's specs when I want to try a new driver.
I have SB12PFCR25-4 only midbass. But I think I would not hear so much over 10khz.A quick search shows no mention of this driver on this thread yet. It does look like a nice driver with a serious X-max. I'm no expert here but the FR curve looks a bit concerning - it drops like a brick after 10k Hz.

Do you think it would fit in a TABAQ?
Hi Bjørn.Hi Exlssn
I have enclosed my sim in the original TABAQ.
Regards
Bjørn
HornResp seems to differ from MJK's here...
Not sure why... we usually get the same curves, more or less.
This is yours:
This is HornResp:
And HornResp with the port at 5.5cm:
you don't plug in the tweeter? You only use it as a mid bass?I have SB12PFCR25-4 only midbass. But I think I would not hear so much over 10khz.

Scratching my head here as to why, unless I did not understand what you meant...
In any case, yes, it will fit in the TABAQ, no problem.
And I would suggest coming up with some crossover for the tweeter, more than just adding a simple cap.

I have a single driver. Not a coax.

Is your sim with stuffing?Hi Bjørn.

Ok. The single driver specs looks good for a TABAQ, although I'm not sure what the top end would sound like. That's probably why SB added a tweeter, hence the coax.I have a single driver. Not a coax.
But if you like the sound of this driver and you are seriously looking to build the TABAQ, then ask Bjorn (or perceval) to sim this driver for you.
And you could probably add a tweeter if you're not happy with enough top end.
