Experiences with Textreme dome tweeters anyone?

Hi I am currently using a 27TAC/BG in a 12 inch 3 way system. I am considering trying the Satori or Scan Speak version of the Textreme dome tweeters. Has anyone used them? Are they of higher performance tan the driver I am using? Thanks

Looking at the frequency response curves, the Satori TW29TXN-B-4 TeXtreme-diaphragm tweeter seems to have a performance edge over the 27TAC/BG. The TW29TXN-B-4 has a much better damped high-frequency resonance, albeit it is outside the 20kHz upper limit of hearing. What's left can probably be attenuated relatively easily if so desired. The TW29TXN-B-4 is also about 5dB more sensitive, which can help a bit with power handling. Maximum linear displacements of the two devices are quite similar. At 10kHz, the dispersion of the TW29TXN-B-4 seems to be a bit wider, which may or may not be beneficial in the typical listening environment.

The general performance of the ScanSpeak Illuminator D3004/6062-00 TPCD Textreme dome tweeter seems quite similar to that of the TW29TXN-B-4.

It would be interesting to see the harmonic distortion plots for these three tweeters.

The SEAS 27TAC/GB tweeter seems to have much lower harmonic distortion levels than either the Satori TW29TXN-B-4 or the ScanSpeak D3004/6062-00. A bit surprising, as it's the least expensive tweeter of the three, and by a big margin.

Well what I am really asking is would there be a sonic difference. I did read the review before you posted it and of course he loved it. However, could a tweeter 1/3 the price compete with the Textreme? The ScanSpeak 3004/6660 is on sale right now for $235

You cannot only consider the tweeter it self. In a 3 ways if cut above 3kHz, to make a real difference is very hard if the design well is executed. You can use the extra money to buy better capacitor. Honestly I use a lot SEAS metal tweeter, and I am never be disappointed by them. They have a very good price/ratio.

Interesting to know @jimbones why you want to change tweeter ?
I use three SEAS metal tweeters in several designs : 27tbcg 27dxt and 27tac. The 27tac is to my ears too discrete, too neutral and the response curve is the least linear in the three after filtering. But it works well. The idea to use the ASC capacitor is a good starting point to have best results.
I would go to test textreme cone with Helios TX but ask myself if I better replace the textreme WG tweeter by a compression and I am sure to have a better blend with the textreme woofer, but don't know if the textreme woofer wo24tx is really a step up above the paper woofer wo24p, I prefer the response curve of the paper woofer, it seems to have a better behaviour in the entire band. But hard to find a lot of subjective opinions on textreme speaker. But two of them on this forum seem to say the midrange is not the strong point. I always think carbon cone is good in the bass area...
