Here too, the last winter... well... needed a poster: Winter: missing/ wanted...
Stuey, which side/State of Australia do you live on?
Western Australia, in the south of the state.
The Bomb Cyclone was pretty brutal to some parts but not here. We barely noticed anything but the top of Vancouver Island saw gusts up to 160 KPH. Still many people without power this morning. Yrees down and two deaths reported.
Finally got some rain on the East Coast US. Possibility of a Nor'Easter right before Thanksgiving.
My sister in Victoria hasn't replied to my questions regarding how she's doing, but I suspect that, other a possible power outage, she's fine. We have friends further up island in a semi rural area that I hope are alright. The Bomb Cyclone was pretty brutal to some parts but not here. It went from green grass and grey deck to white in about 20 minutes this morning.

There are still pockets around Victoria that show up on the outage map. They appear to be pretty small. My sister in Victoria hasn't replied to my questions regarding how she's doing, but I suspect that, other a possible power outage, she's fine.

I barely noticed anything here in Olympia WA as well. A couple of flickers in the AC line was it. Little precipitation from a Cyclone. The Bomb Cyclone was pretty brutal to some parts but not here.
This just in - electric static charge cannot develop on objects in the house as long as relative humidity inside the house is above 55%.
Uh, my dementia is progressing... 5 months passed in 5 days!First snowstorm last night, but only 30cm so far. Well, it will stay for only 5 months...

Hey guys, is snow a pain in the A to live with, or a welcome part of winter?
We get no snow here (some tiny parts of the state get a very mild dusting about two days a year).
I've experienced it on holiday in the UK, US, and Europe but on holidays everything's fun isn't it!?

Only when the temperature settles below freezing point for a longer period I would say here up in the North the snow is a great welcome, but the transition period autumn-to-winter and winter-to-spring when the snow comes and melts making up slush and eventually freezes is rather unpleasant times for both walking and driving car, otherwise the snow makes the rather dark and gloomy part of the year considerably brighter even at night time and I think it helps upping the mood a bit, also especially when the moon is up one could walk through the deepest darkest forests without any additional lighting, and the acoustic effect it has makes the background background noise vanishing away, it's a very tranquil feeling walking outside.
Today the day length is 6h 38min over here.

Winter solstice is barely a month away on Dec 20th, by then we will have 5h 49min of daytime.

In Scandinavia inlands (away from seas) lakes are frozen and snow stays for 3-5 months typically and temperature stays mostly below 0 C (freezing). Bad snowstorms are rare. We are accustomed to that, it's no problem or nuisance. Houses are warm, winterclothes and boots are warm, cars have winter tires and everyone has skis, sledges and skates! Kids love winter sports and can play outdoors for hours. Babies sleep well outdoors too!
October and November are terrible, lots of rain and short daylight

Cleveland Browns played Pittsburgh Steelers in a blizzard a few days ago. Snow Angels:
Yes, I saw that game with those professional multi-million dollar snow angels.
The virtual gridiron markings were interesting too.

It depends on how much, how fast. This year we've had two major snowfalls a week apart which has created minor havoc. The local school systems closed on Monday as travel, both urban and rural, struggled. That sort of difficulty might be expected in an area that seldom gets snow, but generally local and provincial governments are prepared with plans on how to utilize a small army of plows, graders, blowers, front end loaders, trucks, and even gigantic cement pads on which to dump mountains of the white stuff.Hey guys, is snow a pain in the A to live with, or a welcome part of winter?

We have a network of walking trails through aspen bluffs and fields which my wife and I were packing down with snowshoes after the first big snow. The second snowfall has obliterated our previous efforts so we're back to doing it again. This is aggravated by the usual weather trend of a snow dump followed by clear skies and a drop in temperature - this time to -28° C. (For those who haven't experienced it, the effort to snowshoe through a couple feet of virgin snow is dramatically higher than snowshoeing on a well packed trail. )
