42 of course. try to read the book of Douglas Adams.Still I can't find any meaning of life.
Perhaps because I am old and closer to death ...
Life....it's a wonderful game, so believable, it feels so utterly real, let's call it...... reality ;-)
The Meaning of Life seems to me to be..... To shine the light of Our Awareness, back on itself, to be aware of Awareness itself.... instead of being aware of my phone, by troubles, my desires, my fears, my hunger, my job, my money, my house, my partner, the weather, the political environment, the local council, the neighbours...... all this seems an our-ward-ness to my Awareness, so I turn 180 degrees, and look for the looker, it's the hardest easy thing I've ever tried to do.
There are parts of me that resist this inward looking, guiding me to not bother, what's the point, no pleasure to be found there..... that is the opponent right there, it is very tricky this opponent. It knows my weaknesses and plays on them in order to not be discovered, it wants to keep hidden so I think it's influences are actually mine, created by me alone, this is my opponent. We all have this opponent I believe, and to see it for what it really is, is also part of the meaning to life. The more I look the more I notice it's tricks. One day I will see the trickster itself, then the magic trick will be revealed, and loose it's power, as all magic tricks do when you see how it's done. But only then will I be able to play along with the trick.... or not, from then on I will have a choice, something I currently don't have, or so it seems.
On a similar note:
If you have ever got tingles from listening to music, try and reproduce that tingling without the music playing. For me it helps if I say in my mind... a word.... while breathing in. I started out with Aum, or Ohm for the electrically inclined, but then later on trial and error I could do it with potatoe.... lol, or most words I tried. Now I don't need a word, just an in breath, with Intention to tingle.
Some humorous insights in this Meaning to Life, direction by Anthony de Mello:
.
Biggus Dickus "SIT" avis quidem rara in mundo est, cygno nigro simillima.Rara avis in terris, nigroque simillima cycno
Tum vero Macho SIT se immolare tendit.
Super "SET" ergo.
English please!
(Just kiddin'!) 😊
Ĉar vi estas el Eŭropo.
La Biggus Dickus "SID" ja estas rara birdo en la mondo, tre simila al nigra cigno. Sed tiam la Macho SIT inklinas inmoli sin. Sur la "ARO" tiam.
Why does anyone feel the need to believe that there is, or should be, a meaning to life?
My object all sublime
I shall achieve in time —
To let the punishment fit the crime —
The punishment fit the crime;
And make each prisoner pent
Unwillingly represent
A source of innocent merriment!
Of innocent merriment!

And make each prisoner pent
Unwillingly represent
A source of innocent merriment!

I can certainly relate. A current example in my life is I think I want to play guitar and sing, in front of other people. Another part of me wants no part of that. One of its "tricks" is it'll cause me to forget the set of, or order of a very simple lyric. Not while on stage, but while practicing. Another "trick" is it'll cause me to play the wrong chord, where otherwise there's no way I dont know what the next chord is. It plays on my weakness of being easily frustrated when stupid levels of simple arent working. There are parts of me that resist this inward looking, guiding me to not bother, what's the point, no pleasure to be found there..... that is the opponent right there, it is very tricky this opponent. It knows my weaknesses and plays on them
I have a goal to play 3 simple songs entirely from memory. There's zero leaning on past experience to accomplish this, as there is none; other than perhaps some familiarity from hearing them on the radio when I was a kid. Usually I sit on a chair and read from a lyric/chord sheet, but I'd like to stand and not have reading glasses on. More exposure to the crowd and what they might throw at me. It's a very nice "open mic" place I play at and am lucky to have it in my sphere these days.
Pulling it off would give being alive some meaning, which is why I want to do it. I just dont understand the vehemence of the other part of me that "doesnt want it". The only remedy I have is to keep drilling amidst the tricks being pulled, sometimes it's "OK, now we go back to the beginning and try it again". As if to comb out the nits until a continuous flow all the way to the end is achieved.
There's more tricks; deep yawning is one, as if this is the most boring thing in the world. Another is sending my thinking off in a completely orthogonal direction, right in the middle of the piece I'm working on. The pressure of live performance sorta puts the kabash on that one, guess even this other part doesnt want me to look like a real a-hole up there. But no problem injecting an interrupt like that while practicing.
One of my fav Bugs Bunny cartoons is the one where the opera singer is trying to practice and he hears bugs off in the distance playing banjo - and it completely disrupts what he's trying to do - to the point where his mind would rather follow along with the song Bugs is playing. Must be prevalent in human nature for them to work it into the theme of an animated cartoon. "Music hater - Oh well!".

The meaning of life is always an ego centric question.those caught up in puttins war or palistine war its about survival, loss, tragidy, suffering.
Good question, I'll have a go at it, it sn't so much a need to believe, as least not for me, there is a ich, an incling, a feeling.... that something isn't right here, that there is more to this reality than what I perceive, or even that I've had enough "experience" here and it's time to move on.Why does anyone feel the need to believe that there is, or should be, a meaning to life?
It helps, or maybe it's necessary, that something in one's life happens to point out with enough clarity that there is more here than meets the 5 sences.
This reality seems like a game, and maybe just like a computer game, you don't finish the game by dying, you finish it by figuring out the puzzle while still in the game. For people who are enjoying the experience of life, then probably don't look into this stuff. But for others who realize, nothing I do or get, keeps me happy for long, then for those people, the search begins.
.
I think you wanted to say an ego centred question perhaps. The meaning of life is always an ego centric question.those caught up in puttins war or palistine war its about survival, loss, tragidy, suffering.
Anyway the sense of our life and sense of life is not the same one.
Perhaps à little of phenomenology reading can help not to confuse it all.
Wars, often an ego centric but not always. End of western roman empire was at the end due to à battle to flee an invasion and starving (by the huns)... History is répétition itself very often.
The sense of life is a good Big Mac and à warm gun. A hot gun always ask to recieve the big Mac in the face.
I think thats what the ego would have us believe, the fear of its death is very frightening to the ego, but the ego is a made up piece of energy/memory, created by our upbringing and lifes teachers/experiences isn't it ? Similar to say, hatred towards an annoying neighbor/family member/politician/race etc etc. Is the hatred someone feels towards another made up, or real ?The meaning of life is always an ego centric question.
It's real because I made it (up)....... I hope someone gets that one...... so un make it.
those caught up in puttins war or palistine war its about survival, loss, tragidy, suffering.
suffering can be an entrance to the seekers path, not a very nice one, but a popular one.
thank you.
PS.
I do understand how a person that has suffered beyond a threshold point of "WRONG KARMA" can see NO purpose > It is unfair and sad.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
Shouldn't you add an 'emoji' after that statement ???
How are we meant to interpret such a vile comment ?
( you could be a bit sick )
If you think life is primarily about enemies, you have been BRAINWASHED, and basically reduced yourself to an animal.
