Chuffed, twin flare BR part 2

Art
A simple experiment today. The z623 has 2.75" TB style FR drivers with those pointy nips phase plugs. The baffle slopes back a bit. Placed the sats adjacent on the shelf. Sub underneath on the floor. Toed the sats out a bit. Does an amazing job with this. Not as good as the usual 1.2m apart that I can have them, but not bad at all. Don't know what this means for the racer coax but is promising

How about this for managing the built-in tops. I don't want to make the cab wider than the average stage chair. I have chosen 550mm as max and 400mm preferred. Height of about 800mm would raise the tops to usable

Since the xover point will be 100Hz or so. I can mount the sub firing backwards and the coax pair firing forward and toed out. The sub section cross section would look like a wedge and the empty triangles at the sides to mount the sat cabs also in wedge and maybe detachable

Last day at the theatre today. It’s been fun

We accepted an offer for State honours ensemble program(SHEP) given to Jiya. Very proud

I can afford to take the time with the project now that there is no immediate need

The cab will need running gear apart from the amp modules to get a solid use and will be my daughter’s personal studio

I don’t feel good about using homemade electronics and such for the front end. I think a pro grade and well sorted front is preferable while developing the 3 part cab

To this end I am thinking about ordering a Yamaha AG06mk2 today. This can form the inputs, routing and USB interface

Missing is the means to filter and pass on the lil consoles output to the amp modules. The modules have both balanced and unbalanced inputs

I don’t feel this the place for a homemade filter until the cab is sorted. Also cant work out if the DSP in the AG03 can provide filtered outs for main and subs

Tidied up my lil outdoor work area. Things have been a lil slow to progress as it's been raining heavily for a few days and resting up from a hectic week. We are in a retirement estate next to a holiday park. On the weekend, a 14yr old girl in the park fatally stabbed a 24yr old male. Wounded, he apparently came through our estate and went out on the quiet backstreet and collapsed and died across from where I had parked the 20' houseboat/deck boat under build

It's been just police shutting everything down and working the whole area and the shocking and traumatising events and scenes. Fortunately, we didn't witness any of the violence, and the ambulance and police vehicles obscured happenings in the backstreet. They finally finished up working this area, so I can go back to sorting out the board stock in the carport and assembling my new indoor work area. Events like this are rare here and the reason why we made the rural move 4 years ago, but the tourists bring it with them!

The amp and driver on the sub that stopped working are fine. I have traced the problem to the electronic frontend, which is contained in the right satellite. I found the z623 to be consistently terrible with volume pot and power switch longevity, and this one may just be the bass knob. The usual routine of twiddling the knob to clean it up doesn't work. I decoded the 15 pin connector a long time ago. Time to get rid of the stock front ends from the z623s and insert something DSP or analog but with comprehensive filters and a fully optioned boost

So what happened with this
The drivers from a z623 are removed and ready to be built into a new package. The 10" Android head unit arrived today. This has built in DSP and filters for driving the z623 amp channels, so bypassing the stock front end for good. As per plan

Hey do you know how to hot-wire a car head unit to work from a home 12v supply?

I am scared to use any of my amps to initiate these new drivers, as none of the amps are sacrificial. I need one recognised amp for benching jobs. Must be of the sacrificial type and have a system to not kill a driver with amp failure. Recommendations?

The stabbings have moved back to the cities, there was a mass stabbing incident yesterday in Sydney. I fear that people are reverting to the dark ages of carrying weapons and spontaneous violence

Just get the wire pinout from the Car Head, ( you mean car stereo right ?)
then you just wire the GND normally black wire to the ( - ) GND on your home 12v Supply
and the POS normally RED wire from the car head to the ( + ) POS on your home 12v supply

sometimes you need to jumper another wire to GND or POS (+12V) to make the head to turn on

what is the head brand and model# so i can lookup the pinout

i guess it will be helpfull and lifesaving skill to practice some self-defense martial art so at least you can block and kick back some stabbing if somebody want to hurt you

KRAV MAGA is wonderful ,i think it take the best of many martial arts and some special forces training and unify as a one practical discipline
you can look videos on youtube about it

Don't understand sacrificial (designed to be used up or destroyed..) in this context.

If your amp does not have output protection built in, you could add it:

DC protection circuits are available relatively cheap.

All of my larger amps have integrated PSUs and are fairly expensive for me with the shipping and all that

As typing this, I remembered that in my stash, I have 5x IRS2092 boards and a PSU stiff enough for all of them. Perfect for fitting into them all into a chassis for the bench and fed from the new bench head unit. Individual boards can be replaced if needed. I also have another 1000w IRS2092 based board with integrated mains PSU. This one is cheap enough too. I picked up a whole heap of boards to try out and then got better pro units and forgot about the stash. There is all sorts of the better boards from Ali and PSUs and what not in that lot 😀

I'll post up some pics of the loom and pinout. There are more wires than I am used to

Resorting to violence is difficult to contemplate even in defence, but I have to agree with you. I drove night shift taxi for 7 years 😉

My wife and mum are getting a Brazilian 3K for my 49th b'day today 😀

The 2R version. This will replace the failing 1000/1 in the car. And will also be the amp to thoroughly break in the ZXI12.4D project driver. Will fit this amp to the car boot and run longer cables so that the box in the original post can be removed for on the ground benchmarks

I intend to launch the beachcat with at least one hire/DJ hire system in the offerings and with what I already have, this box if it works well and a pair of sats will make the initial mini DJ/mini PA system

Amps = Watts / Volts
So, for 3 kW (which is 3000 watts) at 12 volts:
Amps = 3000 watts / 12 volts = 250 amps
Therefore, a 3 kW load at 12 volts would require 250 amps.

Obviously that is at 100% duty cicle,
scaling that down for the music crest factor it will be much less ...but
Still you must think in upgrading your patch panel to the battery and your wires feeding the amp.

Or you will do not get the punch you expect cause the voltage drop on the old less gauge wire will cause your amp to see 11V or less.
