Hmm, board stacking and separate transformers! I like it. Even though I went with SE, there is a beautiful thing about it. Still waiting on yet more parts, but pretty well done at that point. It will be shortly after the new year. This unit has been a rewarding experience. Looks like I will have two systems after all.
@Pierce911 - Gorgeous build!
A few odd questions....
Is the pot near your on/off switch for brightness adjustment of the LED? If not, whatcha got there?
Where did you get your stand for your Hakko de-soldering tool? I had been looking at solutions like this... even if it seems to be a HAK O
300 / 301 Tool Holder
I'd love to have something more substantial like yours ... not that I EVER need to use it. It mostly stays under the bench ...

Same here with the Hakko holder. What they supplied with mine was just short of dangerous.
Looks like that little board with the variable pot gets its power from the secondary of the transformer. I am betting that there is a main power LED just above the power switch that isn't very visible due to the small sized hole for the LED. Pretty smart idea. Might something like that somehow be used for the other LEDs as well?

Yes. Can't remember where or when I got these little boards, but I found them in my box and decided to try one out.@Pierce911 - Gorgeous build!

Another Iron Pre SE built from the DiyAudiostore kit lives! This one has Frank Wilker's Muses volume control/input selector and remote control. It works great on the desktop driving a pair of "Emotiva" powered monitors. I'm waiting for a case. Thanks to @Zen Mod for an incredible design, to @ItsAllInMyHead for all his efforts, and especially to @frankwilker for all the great work he did on the Muses implementation.

^ IMO, for the Iron Pre... it's easy peasy. I just thought it was a neat approach to take an AC supply / rectify it for LED / and have a dimmer.
Now... if you asked this guy's opinion... we (you.... 🙂) could add simple clearly marked pads for the LED and the LED resistor for boyz for the front panel "on/off" ... Keeps boyz (and our most favorite build guide guru) from needing to solder LED resistor in-line. Just tiny bit cleaner.
not now... b/c well... I have lotsa lotsa boards on the way... but ... future... V.67
Edited for not knowing how to type without more coffee.

Your ambition + my dodoness => could be fun!
To all - As you may have read from the post above. Boards are on the way. A group has been putting a ton of work into getting the Super Mega Deluxe version all tested up and ready for a debut. It's only an opinion... and it's mine... but it's pretty incredible.
I posted a few initial measurements some time ago, and the main goal was clearly met; not that there was any question re: ZM's level of mightiness. The new version needed to (at least) match the performance of the previous version and not use the 'unobtainium' through-hole Toshiba JFETs. After a board revision and a lot of testing, we're into production.
ZM's mightiness is matched only by my dodoness. I forgot to order one silly, silly thing. This dodo is also a cheapskate... and is trying to keep costs reasonable.
So... I need to make one more small order. The shipping is more than the cost of what I need shipped... typical.
Get to the point!
OK. I'll order a few extra "non-production" Iron Pre SMD boards to go with the order I need to place. They'll be 100% perfect. They'll just be green 1oz copper HASL boards.
My offer/commitment ... for anyone feeling the need for Greed... PM me. I'll get you a board or set of boards along with a parts kit (if needed). SMD JFETs will be pre-soldered. Your commitment is to do your best to build it in a timely manner and provide some feedback.
NOTE! I DO NOT HAVE ANY CINEMAGS yet. So, this is ideal for someone that:
For any other parts and shipping - we'll figure it out on a person-by-person basis. Note... shipping outside the USA is likely more expensive than the boards, but ... I'm willing.
I'll do this for up to 2 sets of each (SE and Bal).
Hit me up if you're interested.

- Has one of the types of transformers already (whether from a kit or just on the shelf).
- Already got one of the through hole kits... may want to save the TH JFETs for something else, and wants to take a leap and try the SMD. I'll send you the two or three parts that are substituted in the SMD kit to replace what you've bought.
- Never wanted a kit anyway, and just wanted some boards to use with their own amazing parts stash.
- Just has to build everything

I recon that I'm outa of competition?

NEVER!!!!!!
In all seriousness... I know you have everything with pumpkin etc., but I'll happily send fully built unit your way... I always wonder when I build something if it's what the creator imagined... minus a few stodgy solder joints.

Teaser Alert
Below are the renderings for the new SMD boards. They'll be the standard 2Oz copper / 2U Enig that diyAudio greedy boyz have grown to love. Yes... they'll be black. Oooooooooh. Ahhhhhhhhh. 🙂
And.... the parts kits will be in the store ... soon... very soon... So, if you've been waiting to complete your build b/c you needed more parts, you don't have to wait long. Keep checking the store site b/c there will only be 25 kits each for SE and Balanced. Once they're gone... they're gone.
IMPORTANT - The parts kits that will be in the store soon are for the kits already sold (2021 and 2023 V.3 boards). Parts Kits for the SMD boards will be released at the same time as the SMD essentials kits.
Fine Tiny Print - Yes, as always... parts quantities and supply chains suck. So, red WIMA caps will be painted blue 🙂
