Babelfish XA252 / Babelfish XA252 SIT / Babelfish XA252 SET

Papa taught me that making Clones isn't so fun as making special ones or, at least, your own version of Jazz standard

so, SissySIT is wanabee DEFiSIT, or DEFiSIT for Massess (pitchforks etc.)

SIT3 is good amp, proper and good as commercial product, but without elusive and mythological quality of DEFiSIT

see- there is a common sort of coffee, then you have spec. mixes, then you have that one pooed from monkey a$$

SIT 3 is spec. mix
DEFiSIT is that one helped by monkey

SissySIT is ....... well, ZM's DEFiSIT

who can ask for more, it's ZM's

:clown:
As the SissySIT is a variant of the M25... would it be possible the alter the M25 R.2 into a SissySIT too?

well, even if all my amps are the same, there is significant difference between SissySIT and Babelfish M25

though, latest iteration of M25 taking advantagaes of SissySIT shenanigans and findings, for SET iteraton (upper mosfet connected in Schade, so needing predriver/level shifter) ........ while straight Mosfet option ( so standard M25) is pretty much no-brainer, no need for level shifter, bias circ being connected directly to gates of both upper and lower mosfet

@Zen Mod

Ask? We will ask for the World, even if all we get is a 60 year old Citroen 2CV with a burn out tail light and a fundamental smell of Ripe Roquefort. Arguably, asking gets you something... otherwise just go to your local dealer and spent money on a Bose soundbar. (My son, much to my dismay, did this).

Oh, I don't criticize for one second your designs/modifications. Far from it, I'm enjoying them greatly, thanks. They sound awesome and, unlike a commercial product, they have far less compromises and allow user involvement.

I just wonder about the names of some of them, that's all. What Next? La BaSITlle ? You know, the one we have to use pitchforks to use and only plays Robespierre's Revolutionary Songs -and Chopin.

Ask, ask... how's the BigBaddahBing ( Boom?) Coming along? I went and bought the quad set of Tokins for it...

SIT for the masses Maggies..

I can inform you that work on my superduperZM_AI CNC winding apparatus is nicely coming along
necessary to make nice fine-wire-windings for my Turtles, fed enough with all issues having that part of work outsourced

from now on ( say week - 10 days) I believe I'll doing that as easygoing Zen practice

winding 2Kturns or so, 25 taps including start and end, if wire is fed by hand - that's hard Zen practice

so, only logical is that AI works for me hard part of the job, while coffee and making taps and foot-tapping - that I'm keeping as my job

was in dilemma - either to purchase smaller, factory made one through Alibaba or to make my custom one

then fact that I hate paperwork necessary for import but also fact that my custom one will function same as I'm thinking ......... enough reasons to avoid import of factory made

I mean, I'm going to make just one product, and - if I ever go totally nutz thinking that I need sturdy apparatus - it's goping to be a breeze to make one, once when I have proven recipe and software for Arduion brain

so, now you see where my activity is lately

amps - who need more amps...... buy more speakers

So, this fancy winding, is that for your BigBaddaBing quad SIT amp?

How much beer will this cost me? ;-)

And somehow, ZM and AI seem incompatible to me.. how do you program doing "art"?

Besides, I got speakers already! Oddly, I'm in the odd position of actually being close to needing, not just wanting an amp. I NEED/want 100 wpc of SIT power for the Maggies. 35 wpc is fine, but won't do disco (*). Unlike Señor Pass, I do disco sometimes. Maggie Disco is different... but still, it sounds Donna Summer Awesome.

Class A Aleph 5 does fine disco, by the way...

Hey darlin' can I buy ya a couple a drinks?
Looking for Mr. Goodbar? Well, here he is...

.But it takes the Aleph 2's power to seal the deal:

Oh, love your nails
You must be a Libra
Your place or mine?
Ha ha yes

++++

DiscoSIT

Imagine, on my rack, a SissySIT, a MachoSIT and a DiscoSIT. Then I will have my own Plethora of SITs.

++++

Anyhow, speaking of speakers, I have been thinking of getting an Audio Note AN-J/LX or Harbeth M30.1... should start looking. But then I don't buy new, avoid eBay (Yuk!) and flipper sites like The Music Room (Double Yuk!), Reverb (Triple Yuk!) and I'm specific on what I want. Rosewood for sure for the Harbeths... no 30.2 either. Sometimes the planets align and I get it a month from the start of the search, but most of the time it might take a couple of years... sometimes, never, as the search for the Aleph 2 went for ten years before I decided to buy the.... Raws000n.

The truth is that I enjoy the search immensely and I learn a lot. it's my hobby after all. and while I search, I play Tidal... and I hear all kinds of good stuff..

Right now I got Liquid Liquid, Slip In And Out Of Phenomenon.... a title that ought to be up your alley. ;-)

Patience is a virtue they say. It's easy to be patient when you're surrounded by amps, speakers, heck, want Laserdiscs? Sony SLHF-1000?

Hey.... have you ever told us what kind of speakers you got?

(*) I don't do Euro Techno though. There are limits to my madness.

Many thanks for the explanation, good lecture.

May I ask what method/tools you used for tapping? I took a shortcut and just pushed a long screw through the HS connecting with a bolt on the other side. Tapping is a neater solution though!
No special process or anything. Decide what size screw, ( or ask zenmod like I did) order a set of the drill bit and appropriate tap.

Mark heatsink, smack a dent with a punch where hole is to be. Drill hole. I just use hand drill and eyeball it. I positioned them so they came through between fins. Then I take a bit designed to countersink with and trim the edge of the hole for any burs.

Then take tap, put in one of those simple tools that clamps tap in middle with handle on each end. Use cutting oil and go slow. Turn it until it just begins to get harder to turn and back up, go forward a little further until binds slightly, back up and so forth until it starts to get easy, you are coming through.

May need to clean tap, pass through again to clean, and you are done. Take your time with the cutting. Go too fast and you will have half a tap sticking out of your heatsink...

You should do it by hand and with quality tools.
M3 is finicky, prone to breaking.
M4 is more robust... But it's a tedious job indeed

And tap only full holes, not blind ones, because it's hard top know when you reach bottom = when you'll break the tap.
And blind holes won't be tapped to bottom, and you might not have enough clearance for the screw.

^It can be argued that NYC is not part of the USA. It's an island on the Far East.

Many of us consider the East to be on the far side of the Sierras.... Vegas and Palm Springs are the Eastern Edge... I thought I needed a passport to travel to Petaluma.

The only tunnels we see are on the Pasadena Fwy or the on/off "tunnels" boarding an airliner.

Much obliged! I used a tap drill bit in a small power drill, twice. They broke, twice:whazzat: no slow speed and backing up with such machines!
Drill hole with drill, but hand cut threads. I cut maybe half a turn, back up. Dont cut too fast, and back out and clean tap of debris. Go back in.
Easy to break one off by hand. A drill seems hopeless, for me anyway.
