Mmmmm, not for me...... Might go a Feastrex though 😛
In the meantime.... I saw you've some Tokin VFET based SIT-4 amps on the way Nelson. Is there any publicly available reviews available for this yet? Love reading reviews of your amps. 🙂
I had thought I'd missed out on the SIT-3 and sourced a Thai made Absolute Audio Labs SIT-A15 which utilises the same VFETs. Just the same I'm alays looking to read about any VFET amp out there .
Indeed! That is a big shiny plate right behind the cone.Another side note: I cannot imagine a possible reason for the large reflecting area directly behind the cone. Does anybody has an idea what this detail might be good for?
Eye candy to justify the price, my guess.
The motor mounting plate? Since the cone is a circular tapering curve, any reflections will be random and diffuse, so with a wide gap between the two it should in theory be basically transparent, but yeah, 'eye' candy, though would appeal to those few folks that mount drivers on water clear acrylic baffles.
I really like the veneer you chose. And carpentry work I add. Nice, very.
I have the rub on paste wax and lightly tinted dutch oil. I might oil and clear, simple but nice result.
I presume your going to wax them and nothing more?
I'm working with a hardwood ply that looks almost spot in colour..(before it was treated)

Looks like a bit of horn loading. This could be smoother than letting the backwave wrap haphazardly around the magnet, and might help with break-up by cushioning the cone.Another side note: I cannot imagine a possible reason for the large reflecting area directly behind the cone. Landed in listening room. A steep flight of stairs made the job very hard. Now playing, and sounding glorious. The Lii Song's have a delicate/natural sound....no harshness (compared to, say, a new Lowther). Bass depth not fully tested, but promising. (Unusual lighting created shadow on the grill frame, making the cloth looked warped.)

Sort of, GM. For the first flight of stairs, we used a heavy trolley, pulled up backwards, with 2 folks....and one pushing from below. Then there was a small landing, where the trolley could not turn around.....so we slid the speaker up on cardboard. A horrible job. The guy is selling his house soon.....so I suggested he get a scissor lift / cherry-picker to get them down again. The things we do for audio. Then again, it could have been an A2...!
In room gave a truer sense of scale LOL. Nice going.
Craning speakers in seems logical if there large enough to require it. Strapping one at a time with a ratchet strap fixed to a two wheel dolly would suffice.
